Frederick’s Bold Choice: Why He Picked Keir to Pitch on The Apprentice

Tonight marked the start of a fresh episode of The Apprentice, and none of the contestants anticipated Lord Sugar’s surprising decision. Although it’s not unusual for there to be double firings during the competition, these candidates hadn’t foreseen themselves in such a precarious position.

Tonight’s show (on 13th March) required the contestants to design a novel educational banking application targeted at children aged between six and nine. As part of this task, they also had to create a corresponding piggy bank. The goal was to enhance young people’s understanding of financial matters.

Once again, the teams were divided into smaller groups: one focused on app development, another on branding. Unfortunately, Frederick’s team struggled to make an impact with both aspects. During their presentation to industry leaders, they showcased a dog-shaped piggy bank, which was criticized for being too simplistic and better suited for children aged 2-3.

Ultimately, the success of the pitch was crucial, and unfortunately, it wasn’t a victory for Keir as he lacked sufficient understanding about the app. Despite Frederick’s impressive performance, none of the leading industry players decided to invest in their app.

Frederick originally hoped that someone from the app team could attend, but as you witnessed in the episode, Keir firmly stated, “To be honest, I’m involved in pitches regularly. I head a multi-million dollar sales firm, and not having me involved in the pitch preparation would be an oversight.

Then it occurred to me, “Alright, I’ll assign the pitching presentation to our top three orators. As for the details from the app team, I’ll delegate that to Keir.

Frederick pointed out that the queries directed at Keir were not strictly about the progression of the application. Consequently, he was assured that Keir would be capable of addressing any inquiries during the presentation, even though Tim Campbell’s experts indicated they perceived Keir as less strong compared to the other three individuals.

During a private conversation with Keir, the following question was asked: Was it appropriate for someone from our app development team to assist with the presentation?

He went on to say: “Sales and persuasive presentations are my specialties, giving me high confidence in delivering a strong pitch. Some may have raised concerns about my absence from the app development team, which could potentially be problematic. However, in all sincerity, I don’t share that view.

Even though salespeople or managers may present products or services, it doesn’t mean they were the ones who created them. Therefore, it’s not necessary to be part of the development team to market a product or service.”

This version aims to convey the original idea more clearly and in a natural, easy-to-read manner. It also maintains the core message that one doesn’t have to create a product or service to pitch it effectively.

Currently, there are only 11 contestants left in the running to be Lord Sugar’s next business associate, as two have been eliminated.

As I prepare myself for the upcoming week, I eagerly anticipate stepping into the culinary arena as a contestant, tasked with crafting my very own unique hot sauce recipe. Once perfected, I will have the thrilling opportunity to present it to seasoned industry experts, hoping to leave an unforgettable impression and potentially see my creation on shelves nationwide.

For one team, a simple brand and a plain recipe lack excitement, while an overlooked team places half of the opposing team in a tough predicament!
