Friday the 13th Officially Returning This Fall at Halloween Horror Nights

Enthusiasts of the Friday the 13th series have been yearning for fresh content to appear, as rights disputes have hindered the progression of new films and even delayed the release of a highly anticipated Friday the 13th video game. Fortunately, Halloween Horror Nights has stepped in to help, revealing that they’re teaming up with Jason Universe to unveil a brand-new haunted attraction at their Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood venues. The Halloween Horror Nights event will commence on Friday, August 29th at Universal Orlando Resort and on Thursday, September 4th at Universal Studios Hollywood, running on selected nights up until Halloween.

According to a recent press statement, for over four decades, Jason has been scaring audiences around the globe and is known as one of cinema’s most infamous villains. This autumn, the imaginative team behind Halloween Horror Nights will honor this iconic machete-wielding slasher by creating a chilling haunted house that resurrects his legend to strike fear into the hearts of both old and new fans.

Jason Universe provides a vengeance-themed tour of Halloween Horror Nights at the summer camp, tracing the origins of terror. From the ominous creaks echoing in Jason’s dilapidated cabin to the deteriorating main lodge and the foreboding forest that offers no sanctuary for his victims, fans will be immersed in iconic moments from Jason’s brutal killing spree. At every turn, they’ll encounter scenes where the infamous killer torments and pursues unsuspecting victims, learning too late that the legend is indeed real.

Every Friday the 13th Movie Ranked by Jason’s Appearance

For the first time on the 13th of Friday in 1980, the horror movie titled “Friday the 13th” made its debut. This film was inspired by the chilling success of John Carpenter and Debra Hill’s “Halloween”. Sean S. Cunningham, the director, chose the ominous date as the title and commissioned Victor Miller to write the script. The outcome was a story about a group of camp counselors trying to reopen a camp at Crystal Lake, but instead found themselves being hunted and killed in gruesome ways. It was later discovered that the killer was Pamela Voorhees, who was seeking revenge for her son Jason’s tragic drowning at the lake due to careless counselors years prior.

In the following movies, it’s the spectral Jason who will rise again after being killed, carrying forward his mother’s vengeance-fueled crusade. In “Friday the 13th Part III”, he’ll acquire a hockey mask that would later become iconic and symbolize his terrifying reputation.

As a die-hard fan of the “Friday the 13th” franchise, I’ve noticed that the big-screen adaptations have been on ice lately. This seems to be due to the intense legal disputes between Cunningham and Miller, who both wanted control over the iconic title “Friday the 13th” and the lore surrounding Jason Voorhees.

However, there’s a glimmer of hope on the horizon! The upcoming “Friday the 13th” house at Halloween Horror Nights is one of the most exciting announcements for the series. Moreover, a prequel TV series titled “Crystal Lake” is in development and will soon be streaming on Peacock. Can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store!

Starting this coming Friday, August 29th, the chilling events of Halloween Horror Nights commence at Universal Orlando Resort, and they’ll be terrifying visitors from Thursday, September 4th at Universal Studios Hollywood, continuing on specific nights right up until Halloween itself.
