The well-known “Friday the 13th” film series, known for its financial success, has been inactive for a long stretch of sixteen years. However, this gap is about to close with the arrival of Peacock’s “Crystal Lake” series. This show was initially announced in 2022, with Bryan Fuller and Victor Miller, from the original film, slated to write and executive produce it. Even Kevin Williamson, from “Scream,” was planned to script an episode for the first season. Unfortunately, in May 2024, Fuller was removed as showrunner, causing the series to appear troubled. Luckily, it recovered swiftly, with Brad Caleb Kane (who is also serving as co-showrunner on the upcoming “IT: Welcome to Derry”) taking over from Fuller.
As a film enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly speculating about the upcoming series, but with Kane himself confirming the production kickoff on his Instagram account (“Mama’s Boy” as the fitting code name), it feels like we might be unraveling some of those lingering mysteries soon.
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I’ve always been intrigued by the enigma surrounding Adrienne King, who brilliantly portrayed Alice Hardy, the final girl in the original Friday the 13th film. Given that she was initially cast in a recurring role during the show’s Fuller era, it leaves me wondering if she might still be associated with the series. However, considering Fuller’s departure due to the show’s intended shift in direction, it seems unlikely that King would continue her involvement.
Moreover, Alice Hardy’s gruesome fate – an icepick to the temple in Friday the 13th Part 2 – makes her return questionable, even within the context of this horror franchise. If by any chance she were to reappear as a character other than Alice Hardy, it would stretch the boundaries of logic, even for this series known for its unconventional storylines.

The program continues to be associated with A24’s label, a connection that remained even during Fuller’s tenure as showrunner. Similarly, the selection of the exceptionally skilled Linda Cardellini for the role of Pamela Voorhees instills the same level of trust that A24 usually does.
As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a thrill running down my spine at the prospect of Crystal Lake marking the commencement of the latest Jason Universe under the Horror, Inc. banner. The stage is set for the return of everyone’s favorite masked slasher and his trusty machete, promising a comeback that will leave audiences spellbound. Not only do we have a series to eagerly anticipate, but also an unavoidable wave of films in the pipeline.
After a challenging sixteen-year delay, it looks like we’re finally getting another installment of the top-tier horror series, Friday the 13th. It was becoming increasingly uncertain if Jason would ever pick up his iconic hockey mask again. However, a recent Instagram post (you can view it right below) confirms that Friday the 13th is indeed making a comeback.
Kane’s post garnered comments from a few well-known actors from the Friday the 13th series. For example, Ari Lehman, the original Jason Voorhees, wrote “WELL DONE FROM THE ORIGINAL JASON VOORHEES – THE MOTHER’S BOY HIMSELF! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK”, and Judie Aronson from Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter posted “It’s time to perform! Let’s get going!!”. It is anticipated that Crystal Lake will premiere on Peacock sometime in 2026.
