Hey Windows Central community, it’s been a while, hasn’t it?
Since 2015, I’ve been part of the Windows Central team for a decade, and the environment has undeniably transformed. At the time of my arrival, the platform was then known as WPCentral, and the company was moving away from its initial emphasis on Windows Phone towards a more comprehensive perspective encompassing Xbox, Windows, phones, and eventually Surface within the broader Microsoft ecosystem. Today, the scene is vastly altered.
Microsoft is progressively focusing its operations more on artificial intelligence and cloud services. The Xbox brand has expanded globally and across various platforms, aiming to establish a hardware presence similar to that of Windows. However, Surface may no longer be the innovation powerhouse it once was, with Windows Phone’s fate being well-known.
Regardless of the numerous shifts, our primary group has stayed consistent for more than ten years in certain areas. Windows Central has consistently been a compact team, yet we’ve had lofty objectives. We continue to be one of the leading tech sites among English-speaking nations, solely due to your unwavering support.
We want to do better and do even more. And here’s where it begins!
New commenting system!
When Future PLC took over our parent company, one thing that left us genuinely sad to part with was our comments section, as we had built a vibrant commenting community on the site. Due to technical constraints at the time, restoring the comments system would likely take several years, and although it wasn’t always easy to navigate, it wasn’t the most user-friendly experience.
Although we’ve had the new system for a while, I just wanted to introduce it formally.
You have two options: log in using your forum account or establish a fresh account utilizing several pre-existing credentials. Simply click on “Sign In” located at the top of the banner to initiate the process. This action will immediately grant you access to our updated comments section, where you can swiftly view replies from any page and respond promptly.
This system is fresh off the assembly line and we’re currently adding new functionalities. The auto-moderators, however, might appear a tad harsh, but our goal is to approve comments that are not spam. So please be patient as we work through this phase.
As an avid user, I’m thrilled about our current comment system, which showcases both poll options and highlighted comments. I eagerly look forward to its potential growth and integration with other systems down the line. Keep your eyes peeled for those exciting updates!
We want to hear from you!
As a tech enthusiast, it feels great to be back online with our beloved community! Let’s rekindle the old days by resuming discussions, engaging in thoughtful debates, and even organizing exciting events such as contests, giveaways, and more entertaining activities that we all enjoyed. Here’s to a fantastic future ahead!
To that end, we’d really like to hear feedback from all of you on precisely what you want to see.
In our more recent explorations, we’ve dabbled with a Discord server, yet found it demanding for our resources to manage effectively. Previously, we also produced a lot more video content, specifically when Mark Guim was part of our team (we sure do miss him!). However, there are aspects we yearn to explore that might necessitate staffing and time that we currently lack. There are unpredictable factors beyond our control too, but your suggestions on what you’d like us to aim for in terms of change and improvement are always welcome.
Feel free to share your thoughts about the editorial approach, content, community aspects, or anything else that comes to mind in the comment section below. We will gather all feedback for potential improvements in the future.
And finally, a thank you note!

For a decade now, I’ve been part of Windows Central, but it’s important to note that there are some who have been here even longer than me. The extraordinary individuals I’ve encountered, the knowledge I’ve gained from each one of you, and the memories we’ve created together have made for some of the most rewarding years in my life. We continue to be a part of this community because of our shared passion for the site and the vibrant community that thrives around the possibilities within the unique and peculiar Microsoft universe.
But, as I said, we couldn’t have done any of it without all of you. So, thank you for that.
