As a lifelong cinephile who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of action films, I can confidently say that Ballerina has piqued my interest like no other spin-off in recent memory. The prospect of delving deeper into the John Wick universe, with a fresh perspective from a new protagonist, is nothing short of exhilarating.
Although there’s a possibility that John Wick might have been laid to rest, we’re gearing up for an exciting return to the realm of action and assassination with the upcoming spin-off titled, “Ballerina”.
In the movie, Ana de Armas takes on the role of a novice character, aspiring to mirror Baba Yaga, more commonly known as John. Concurrently, characters from the John Wick series are expected to make guest appearances, including Keanu Reeves himself, who reprises his role during the narrative that unfolds within the events of Chapter 3 – Parabellum.
As we draw nearer to the movie’s launch, with a trailer and behind-the-scenes footage now on hand, fans are eagerly awaiting the exact date. When can they expect to catch a glimpse of it?

When will Ballerina be released?
Ballerina will be released in cinemas on Friday 6th June 2025.
The initial plan was for its release to take place on 7th June 2024, however, there were reported delays to allow for more action scenes to be filmed, with John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski overseeing this process as he serves as a producer on the film titled Ballerina.
What will Ballerina be about?
As a movie enthusiast, I’d like to share my thoughts on “Ballerina,” a captivating spin-off set within the engrossing universe of “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.” This intriguing tale introduces us to Eve Macarro, a compelling new character skillfully portrayed by Ana de Armas. The film promises to delve deeper into this exciting world, offering action-packed sequences and thrilling moments that fans of the franchise will surely appreciate.
The protagonist is a ballerina who’s been trained in the assassin ways of the Ruska Roma community. While the movie’s plot developments are yet unclear, the trailer hints at Eve crossing paths with characters from the John Wick series and delivering ample amounts of violent action, a staple of the franchise.
Ballerina cast – will Keanu Reeves show up as John Wick?
In the upcoming film “Ballerina,” Ana de Armas, who starred in both “Knives Out” and “No Time to Die,” will play the leading role of Eve. Anjelica Huston from “The Witches” and Gabriel Byrne from “Miller’s Crossing” are set to appear as significant co-stars.
Besides Norman Reedus (“The Walking Dead”), Catalina Sandino Moreno (“From”) and Sharon Duncan-Brewster (“Sex Education”), the cast also includes returning actor Ian McShane, who plays Winston in John Wick, as well as Lance Reddick, appearing posthumously in his final screen role as Charon.
Of course, movie enthusiasts can’t help but get thrilled, knowing for sure that Keanu Reeves will step back into the role of John Wick, a fact verified by the film’s official trailer.
In a short video featuring Reeves, he’s caught conversing with Eve as she inquires about performing tasks similar to his own. He responds by suggesting that she seems to have already begun.
