Frostpunk 1886 Includes “Tons of New Content,” Gameplay Reveal Coming Later This Year

11 Bit Studios has revealed their upcoming title for 2027, which is a remake of the original game called “Frostpunk.” This new version, titled “Frostpunk: 1886,” is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and offers players a fresh Progress Path and support for mods. In addition to these updates, it also expands on the original gameplay experience.

In a recent update on Steam, the developers announced they’ll be adding a plethora of fresh content, which includes innovative mechanisms, occasions, structures, and advancements. This will provide players with novel opportunities to mold their societies in unique ways. Additionally, there are plans for DLC that will delve deeper into the world.

11 bit studios hinted that they’ll disclose additional details about their upcoming game in the second half of 2025, which may include the initial gameplay footage, backstage information, and potentially even a new title. It’s possible that “Frostpunk 1886” isn’t the final name for this project. Keep an eye out for updates!

In the year 2018, Frostpunk was initially released on PC platforms, and later made its way to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the following year, 2019. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic landscape that has been ravaged by the Great Freeze. In this chilling world, players construct a new city around the Heat Generator Tower as they struggle to stay alive.

A follow-up titled “Frostpunk 2” was launched on PC platforms last year. Be sure to read our review, as we anticipate its console release this coming summer on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
