11-bit Studios’ “Frostpunk 2” has just been released early for Deluxe Edition owners as critical reviews start to appear. The official launch trailer is now live, offering a glimpse into The City and its intricate workings by gradually revealing its structure over a time-lapse. In Frostpunk 2, we find ourselves 30 years later, assuming the role of The Steward instead of the Captain in New London. Although the Great Freeze still looms as a danger, humanity has adapted and established their current way of life. However, darker human tendencies surface, leading to the formation of different factions, each with unique visions for governing The City.
In this new iteration, players take control of entire districts, with time progressing in weekly intervals. They must maintain the central power source while coordinating meetings with various factions, enacting laws, and building their trust. Additionally, venturing into the frozen wasteland to establish resource colonies is crucial. Keep in mind that each decision carries weight, and a few missteps can lead to severe repercussions.
On September 20th, the global release of Frostpunk 2 will be available for Standard Edition owners on PC platforms (including PC Game Pass). It’s also planned for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, though a specific launch date has yet to be revealed.
