Frostpunk 2 Post-Launch Roadmap Promises Three Expansions, Free Content Updates, and More

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for city-building survival sims and post-apocalyptic settings, I find myself utterly thrilled by the latest roadmap unveiled for Frostpunk 2. Having delved into the original Frostpunk, I can attest to its gripping narrative and immersive gameplay, so the prospect of a more ambitious sequel is truly exhilarating.

Since its PC release in September, Frostpunk 2 has received multiple updates and fixes, and 11 bit studios, its developer, has even more features lined up for this post-apocalyptic city builder survival game over the coming years. In a recent Steam post, the developers have shared some insights into what these future plans involve, outlining a roadmap for post-launch development.

As a fervent fan, I’m thrilled to share that in the not-so-distant future, we’ll witness the second significant update for Frostpunk 2. While this year might just pass us by, the game’s post-launch support is set to expand substantially in 2025. Excitingly, 11 bit studios has announced that they will be delivering free major content updates for the game. These updates will be shaped by player feedback and promise to have a substantial impact on your overall gaming experience.

11 Bit Studios is additionally planning to roll out three paid expansions for the game Frostpunk 2, with two of them – Aurora and Spectrum – set for release in 2025. The third expansion, yet unnamed, is scheduled for 2026. According to the developer, each expansion promises to introduce something entirely new to the bleak world of Frostpunk 2.

2025 marks the arrival of “Frostpunk 2” for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the developer promises ongoing updates and improvements beyond that point. They assure us that the major releases are just a part of what’s to come, with regular fixes and enhancements on the way. In addition, Patch 1.2 is imminent, bringing gameplay and interface modifications – more details about this will be shared soon.

In our assessment of the game, we gave it a 9 out of 10, noting that “Frostpunk 2” is significantly more ambitious than its predecessor, which might put off some loyal followers. However, despite this, it provides a harsh yet compelling portrayal of humanity’s complex and irrational social struggles. You can read the complete review by following this link.

Earlier this month, 11 bit studios announced Frostpunk 2 had sold over 511,000 units worldwide.
