Frozen 3 and Pixar's Hoppers Get Release Dates

As a seasoned gamer and Disney enthusiast with a soft spot for animation, I must say this latest announcement from Disney has me absolutely thrilled! The dual release of Frozen III and Hoppers is like a dream come true for me.

In brief announcement following their D23 event in Anaheim, Disney has revealed the launch dates for two upcoming films: “Frozen III” and an original story titled “Hoppers.” The former is a sequel to a Walt Disney Animation Studios production, while the latter is a fresh creation from Pixar Studios. Disney’s schedule indicates that “Hoppers” will premiere on March 6th, 2026, whereas “Frozen III” has been set for Thanksgiving weekend in 2027, specifically November 24th. This release date for “Frozen III” is approximately a year later than many had anticipated.

At the Anaheim Convention Center tonight, Jennifer Lee, producer of “Frozen III”, shared tantalizing details about an extensive tale that grew into a two-part epic during production. This development comes after months of hints she’s been dropping. As for when “Frozen IV” will hit theaters, we don’t have that information just yet. However, given the eight-year gap between the third and second installments, it seems unlikely we’ll wait that long again for the next two movies.

Deadline first broke the news of the dates.

In the year 2026, the film titled “Hoppers” is scheduled for release, featuring Piper Curda, Bobby Moynihan, and Jon Hamm. This production boasts a captivating science fiction premise. The story revolves around Mabel, a dedicated animal enthusiast who undergoes an extraordinary transformation by transferring her spirit into a robot beaver. In this new form, she forges a friendship with King George, a genuine royal Beaver, and assists him and his companions in resisting the encroachment of a real estate developer.

The title “Hoppers” seems a bit unusual as it reminds one of hopping animals. This could cause some initial confusion, especially given the presence of tiny creatures on the poster. However, within the film’s context, “Hoppers” refers to the method by which the robots enter their state or mode, similar to how ‘Flatliners’ refer to individuals who have died and come back.

Pixar’s upcoming movie, titled “Elio,” will continue the tradition of their original productions. Simultaneously, Pixar has sequels in development for “The Incredibles,” “Toy Story,” and a television series based on “Inside Out” (the sequel to this film recently broke Pixar’s record as their highest-grossing movie). The plot of “Elio” revolves around a boy who gets abducted by aliens, is presumed to be the world’s ruler, and stands trial for Earth’s misdeeds. At D23, it was revealed that America Ferrera, who plays Elio’s mother in the film, will be replaced by Zoe Saldana due to scheduling issues. Director Adrian Molina is departing to work on another project, with Domee Shi from “Turning Red” and Madeline Sharafian from “Burrow” stepping up to complete “Elio.”
