Full House Star Dave Coulier Shares Stage 3 Cancer Diagnosis

In reading through these stories of resilience and triumph over adversity, I can’t help but be deeply moved by the strength and grace these individuals have displayed. Each one of them has faced a formidable foe, be it cancer or another life-threatening illness, and yet they have emerged victorious.

Dave Coulier is opening up about his health battle.

The actor from Full House announced that he was recently diagnosed with stage 3 Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, stating that he found out about his condition only five weeks ago.

During his conversation with Hoda Kotb on the November 13th episode of Today, he shared that over this period, he’s undergone three surgeries, received chemotherapy, and experienced some hair loss. Now, he resembles a young bird, but he admitted it’s been quite a bumpy ride for him, a real roller coaster.

Coulier went on to explain more about his diagnosis, noting that he’s battling B-cell lymphoma.

The patient, aged 65, explained that the type of lymphoma he has is extremely aggressive and it progressed rapidly. He described the rapid growth of a lump in his groin area as being very quick. He commented, “That feels unusual. I’ve got a golf ball down here,” to which the doctors responded with regret, informing him that he indeed has B-cell lymphoma and needs immediate chemotherapy.

Upon learning the news, the actor found another obstacle: Breaking it to his wife, Melissa.

He shared, “I learned the news while I was alone at home,” he stated. “Later, she returned home about twenty minutes later and asked, ‘Have you heard any news?’ To which I replied, ‘Yes, I have cancer.’ She responded, ‘Stop joking around.’ But I reassured her, ‘No, I’m serious,’ and as the reality set in, it felt like a heavy blow to my stomach.

After sharing the test results, Coulier mentioned that there was some positive development – the cancer hadn’t metastasized.

At that moment, the cure rate climbed significantly, reaching over 90%, as he pointed out. Therefore, it can be considered highly treatable.

In the middle of his chemotherapy treatment, Coulier shared insights about how he manages life during his health odyssey.

He conveyed to Hoda that his schedule is incredibly full due to personal matters, so when he needs to relax, he follows his body’s cues, and when he must be more active, he takes action accordingly.

Furthermore, the doctors anticipate that, assuming all goes smoothly, he could be in remission by February.

He expressed that this situation is like embarking on a journey for him. If anyone watching this can arrange an early screening for tests such as breast, colon, or prostate exams, he strongly encourages them to do so. For him, early detection was crucial and life-changing.
