Dragon Ball Super Manga Hits Big Milestone
Despite a break since 2018 for the Dragon Ball Super anime, the manga edition has kept soaring and breaking sales records. Following the conclusion of the anime, the manga produced two more story arcs, hinting at its potential return to publication. With this comeback, it’s expected that even more copies will be sold. At present, the Dragon Ball Super manga is on track to reach an impressive 12 million copies in circulation, which is quite an achievement given it doesn’t rely on animation to gain mainstream popularity.
After the temporary halt in Dragon Ball Super following the demise of its creator Akira Toriyama, there has been uncertainty about the series’ continuation. However, with recent shifts occurring behind the curtain, it appears that the lucrative property may persist without him. Many fans eagerly await fresh projects for both the manga and anime versions of the franchise, but a definite course is yet to be charted. Shueisha and the Dragon Ball team are now embarking on a challenging journey to steer the series forward in the absence of Toriyama’s leadership.
I deeply yearn that, given my longstanding affection for this series, the storyline and characters are treated thoughtfully, especially since the industry tends to resort to inexpensive, nostalgic tactics to attract fans repeatedly. It’s going to take some time for Dragon Ball to regain its footing, but I’m prepared to be patient.
