Previously, the Funko Fusion action-adventure game, modeled after beloved vinyl characters, was introduced last year. It once adorned the shelves where video games were displayed at establishments such as GAME.
Despite the ongoing popularity of Funko Pop! figurines, which represent numerous characters from today’s pop culture, the game turned out to be a total flop both commercially and critically.
10:10 Games has faced contentious layoffs, as reported by Insider Gaming, according to unidentified sources who shared their insights with the publication.
The report and its information indicate that a total of 19 individuals were terminated from their team, and some of these dismissals occurred while the affected persons were on vacation.
Management seemed to endorse the holidays, yet those who followed the suggestion were still required to participate in consultations, even when they were overseas.
The report indicates that the affected staff were only provided with the “minimum legal requirements for a severance package,” according to one source, rather than a substantial one. This means they were given notice periods and compensation for their accrued but unused vacation time. It seems as though these vacations were promoted to minimize the total severance payout.
It seems that the lack of success in Funko Fusion, both in terms of reception and sales, has led to job losses. Unfortunately, 10:10 Games has only been able to secure financing for one more project. As a result, lower-level employees were informed that there isn’t enough work available to keep the entire team employed.
No official statement has been made about the situation.
Despite receiving harsh criticism at its launch in September of last year, it’s regrettable to witness job losses as a result. If the information presented here is correct, it seems that these layoffs have been particularly severe for the company involved. Here’s hoping those affected can swiftly find alternative employment.
