Nippon Ichi Software plans to make the classic travel-adventure game “Fuuraiki,” first released for PlayStation on December 10, 1996 in Japan, available on PC through Steam starting March 27 in Japan, according to their recent announcement.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
Set in Hokkaido
Fuuraiki replicates the romantic exploration manner of individuals traversing Japan. The scene is set in Hokkaido, specifically its Eastern, Northern, and Central regions, during the blooming season, which falls between June and July.
High Degree of Freedom
80 diverse travel locations await your discovery, spanning renowned sites such as Lake Mashu to lesser-known treasures that will captivate you. As you journey, you’ll cross paths with various individuals, some of whom embody heroic figures, and participate in a series of events that may lead to unforeseen interactions and emotional turmoil.
Immersion
The game incorporates approximately 3,000 authentic photographs gathered during field research to create its backdrops, offering an immersive experience that lets you traverse tourist locations as if physically present. While navigating these digital landscapes, you’ll encounter road images captured in real life, mimicking the sensation of touring Hokkaido on a motorcycle.
Travelogue
Travelers are encouraged to maintain personal journals detailing various aspects of their trip, such as the beautiful vistas, terrain, experiences, and personal anecdotes they encounter. Sharing these narratives as articles will allow for engagement and responses from readers.
