Gachiakuta Unleashes New Trailer, Major Plans for Summer Release

Studio BONES has kept themselves occupied with “My Hero Academia” and its spin-off series, “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” as the story of UA Academy nears its end. Despite the heavy workload from Class 1-A, the production company is also working on another significant project – the anime adaptation of “Gachiakuta.” This new series will be available on Crunchyroll next month and features a dark world where a solitary boy has been cast into a realm of junk. First appearing in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2022, this upcoming BONES production could help establish “Gachiakuta” as a prominent shonen title.

Excitedly, I can’t wait to be part of this year’s Anime Expo where BONES will debut the first two episodes of their new series! The narrative follows Rudo on his mission to clear his name and seek justice. This promises to be an exhilarating journey of revenge. Not only that, but the creators themselves, Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Andou, along with producer Naoki Amano, will grace us with their presence at the panel! Additionally, Crunchyroll has revealed the opening and ending themes for the upcoming anime adaptation, which they describe as truly captivating.

Theme Song: “HUGs” by Paledusk – This internationally acclaimed four-member group blends the raw intensity of hardcore music with the evocative spirit of Gachiakuta’s culture.

Closing Melody:  “TOMOSHIBI” by DUSTCELL – Renowned for their somber, emotionally resonant pieces, this pair infuses their work with a profoundly intimate flavor that echoes the path taken by Rudo.

Crunchyroll is arranging a global journey for the anime series “Gachiakuta“, with stops planned at these locations.

  • United States: Anime Expo (Los Angeles) – July 4 at 10:00am PDT
  • France: Japan Expo (Paris) – July 4 at 11:45am CEST
  • Brazil: Anime Friends (São Paulo) – TBD
  • Germany: Astor Film Lounge (Berlin) – July 5 at 6:00pm CEST
  • Mexico: Antara Shopping Mall (Mexico City) – July 4 at TBD

  • Italy: The Space Moderno, Piazza della Repubblica (Rome) – July 4 at 6:30pm CEST

New Additions to Gachiakuta’s Cast

To make this fresh announcement even more enticing, Gachiakuta has introduced two new characters for the anime. The first one is Regto, voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa, who is known as “The guardian who took care of Rudo after he lost his parents and gifted him a pair of gloves.” The second character is Jabber, played by Yuuki Shin, who belongs to the “Raiders,” a bandit group operating on the ground. He employs rings containing a potent neurotoxin in combat.

If you’re unfamiliar with Gachiakuta, let me give you Crunchyroll’s take on the series: “Escape from the depths of Hell to transform this wretched world! Rudo resides in a floating slum town, where the poor struggle under the oppressive rule of the rich who casually discard their waste into the abyss. One day, he’s wrongly accused of murder and sentenced to exile, cast off the edge with all the refuse. Beneath this surface, humans have spawned terrifying monsters. If Rudo is to uncover the truth and seek retribution against his accusers, he must learn a new power and align himself with a group called the Cleaners who fight the colossal beasts of the Pit!

Starting from June 6th, you’ll be able to watch Gachiakuta only on Crunchyroll. In about four weeks, get ready to explore a brand new world overflowing with trash, where simply staying alive won’t be a walk in the park.
