Gambit Gets Gruesome Marvel Zombies Treatment in Stunning X-Men Cosplay

A fresh collaboration in the world of cosplay has sent shivers down our spines in a delightfully eerie way. Taking cues from the widely acclaimed Marvel Zombies comic book series, cosplayers Aye Em Bonesie (@zombonezie) and Haunted Cosplay (@hauntedcosplay) breathed life into, or perhaps un-life, zombified versions of Gambit and Ant-Man. The work of New York-based cosplay photographer Mark (@nycosplayer), the captivating images shared on Instagram showcase close-ups and full-body shots of both cosplayers’ remarkable renditions of these Marvel characters. Haunted Cosplay’s depiction of miniaturized Ant-Man further enhances the intricate details and authenticity of their Marvel Zombies-inspired costumes.

The “Marvel Zombies” comic book saga kicked off in 2005 and was ingeniously conceived by Robert Kirkman, who is also a co-creator of “The Walking Dead.” Illustrations were done by Sean Phillips, with Arthur Suydam handling the cover art. This thrilling tale originated from the “Ultimate Fantastic Four” series and unfolds in the universe designated as Earth-2149. In this alternate reality, a superhero mysteriously crashes and contaminates the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four with an insatiable hunger for human flesh in that particular dimension. Unlike most zombie narratives, these infected heroes retain their intellect, powers, and unique personalities after being bitten. The series was a smashing success for Marvel, leading to numerous spinoffs, single issues, and special editions, as well as an upcoming “Marvel Zombies” animated series set to premiere on Disney+ later this year.

This Marvel Zombies Gambit Cosplay Has Us Hungry for His Inclusion in Animated Series

Aye Em Bonesie’s portrayal of the Zombie Gambit in cosplay is remarkably similar to the work done by top film studios, with exceptional prosthetics and costuming. The photographer Mark captured these images at the Cradle of Aviation Museum on Long Island, New York, where the grungy warehouse setting adds an extra layer of authenticity to the eerie atmosphere. The pictures are so strikingly grotesque that we’re eagerly anticipating the zombified version of X-Man appearing in Marvel Zombies when it airs in October.

The Marvel Zombies series, in a nutshell, is humorously succinct – “It’s the Marvel Zombies!” However, we can anticipate that it will unfold across four episodes where a fresh group of heroes confronts a relentlessly expanding zombie outbreak. This miniseries can be seen as a spiritual sequel to the “What If… Zombies?!” episode from the first season of What If…?. A roster of prominent Marvel actors are back to lend their voices, reprising their live-action roles, including Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, and Iman Vellani.

Previously, Vellani mentioned that Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel will play a pivotal role in the upcoming miniseries, and she compared it to Frodo’s journey in “Lord of the Rings.” Vellani expressed her excitement over this by saying, “That’s fantastic!

Vellani playfully hinted about numerous exciting characters set to appear in the upcoming series, expressing her joy and fun during the filming process for Marvel Zombies. While it’s unclear if Gambit is among those characters, a recent cosplay suggests that he could bring thrilling chaos and captivating entertainment to the show.

The Marvel Zombies animated series premieres on Disney+ October 3rd.
