Silver Trophy: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Beyond the formidable barriers of Midgar, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth flourishes, faithfully capturing the exhilarating spirit of adventure that characterized the original PS1 masterpiece. Rebirth builds upon the strengths of Remake, crafting a rich RPG experience replete with engaging combat sequences and satisfying character growth. In an astonishing feat, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth tackled the challenging duty of weaving together the tales of Kazuma Kiryu and Ichiban Kasuga seamlessly in one unified narrative, much like water rolling off a duck’s back for RGG Studio. Divided across three expansive open-world maps, you’ll find yourself developing and upgrading two distinct groups, each engaged in their own battles. This is a challenge that most other studios might struggle with, but the Japanese team rose to the occasion and emerged stronger as a result.

Experiencing the blend of sequential battles, team management aspects, and captivating narrative is precisely what one would anticipate in a Yakuza game: intriguing, convoluted, unpredictable, humorous, and extraordinary. With more than 80 hours of engaging content considering all the minigames and subplots, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth embodies the quintessential JRPG experience. This top-tier creation from RGG Studio serves as a testament to the series’ consistent improvement, continually surpassing its own excellence.

Platinum Trophy: Metaphor: ReFantazio

In essence, Metaphor: ReFantazio might be drawing from political undertones similar to Persona, but considering Atlus’ other IP is already robust, it wouldn’t make sense not to leverage that foundation and elevate it further. The JRPG mechanics have been simplified in certain aspects, such as the streamlined Archetype system and eliminating the necessity of equipping specific monsters to foster relationships. This streamlining enables a stronger emphasis on combat and deepening connections with teammates without the fear of failure. Essentially, Metaphor is shaping up to be a JRPG that encourages more experimentation due to these changes.

Throughout the 75-hour campaign, the party consistently expands, and the story keeps you hooked right from the beginning to the climax. With the visually stunning aesthetic reminiscent of an Atlus game, a captivating soundtrack, and an exceptional ensemble of characters, Metaphor: ReFantazio offers everything one could desire in a turn-based RPG in 2024. This subgenre has never been more impressive.
