As a die-hard Game of Thrones fan with a memory that rivals Maester Aemon Targaryen himself, I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming spinoff series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight! With an impressive cast that includes both established and rising stars, this show promises to deliver the high-quality storytelling and intricate characters we’ve come to expect from Westeros.
In a new development for the “Game of Thrones” spinoff series titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,” it has been revealed that a larger group of actors will be joining the show, including Peter Claffey, who portrays the renowned knight Ser Duncan the Tall, and Dexter Sol Ansell in the role of his squire, Egg.
According to Variety, the cast for “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” has expanded with Edward Ashley from “Masters of the Air” joining as Ser Steffon Fossoway, Henry Ashton known for “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” and “My Lady Jane” taking on Daeron Targaryen, Youssef Kerkour from “House of Gucci” portraying Steely Pate, Daniel Monks of Netflix’s upcoming film “Kaos” as Ser Manfred Dondarrion, Shaun Thomas from “How to Have Sex” as Raymun Fossoway, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor of “Avengers: Infinity War” as Plummer, and Danny Webb from HBO’s “The Regime” as Ser Arlan of Pennytree.
Fresh additions have been made to the cast, who were already confirmed for the ensemble role. Among them are Finn Bennett portraying Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel taking on Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell stepping into the shoes of Maekar Targaryen.
What Is A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms About?
In a time long past, before the tales of Game of Thrones unfolded, I, a green but valiant knight known as Ser Duncan the Tall, roamed the lands of Westeros alongside my tiny squire, Egg. This era was marked by the Targaryen dynasty’s rule over the Iron Throne and the lingering remembrance of the last dragon among us. My journey would lead me to face great destinies, formidable adversaries, and perilous adventures – all with my unmatched companion by my side.
In the tale of the towering knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his seemingly insignificant companion Egg, an unexpected turn of events unfolds. Contrary to popular belief that characterizes Egg as small and unremarkable, he actually plays a far more significant role in the chronicles of Westeros. As it happens, Egg is merely a nickname for Aegon V Targaryen, the younger sibling of Maester Aemon Targaryen from ‘Game of Thrones’. During his time, Aegon V traveled incognito across Westeros as Ser Duncan’s squire. Later on, he was compelled to return and tackle the intricate political matters concerning the lineage of succession within the Targaryen dynasty – including his brother’s controversial relinquishment of the Iron Throne and subsequent joining of the Night’s Watch.
Sarah Adina Smith, known for her work on “Lessons In Chemistry”, “Hanna”, and “Buster’s Mal Heart”, is set to direct three out of the six episodes in “The Hedge Knight”. Similarly, previously announced director and executive producer Owen Harris will also be responsible for directing three episodes.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight is in development at HBO.
