Game of Thrones star joins epic all-star new King Lear film with Al Pacino

As a cinephile with decades of film-watching under my belt, I must say that the upcoming King Lear adaptation, titled Lear Rex, has me absolutely thrilled! Al Pacino and Jessica Chastain are already more than enough to make any moviegoer’s heart skip a beat, but add Peter Dinklage as The Fool? Brilliant casting choice!

Additional cast members have been revealed for the forthcoming film adaptation of King Lear, featuring Al Pacino and Jessica Chastain. Now joining them is Peter Dinklage, known for his role in Game of Thrones.

Peter Dinklage, known for playing Tyrion Lannister in the popular HBO series, has been chosen to portray The Fool in a production called “Lear Rex,” which is being directed by Bernard Rose.

In addition to Ariana DeBose (cast in Cordelia from West Side Story), Rachel Brosnahan (known for The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, playing Regan), and LaKeith Stanfield (familiar from Judas and the Black Messiah, taking on the role of Edmund), another cast member has also been announced.

In the same cast, we now have Chris Messina from Argo, Ted Levine known for The Silence of the Lambs, Danny Huston famous for The Constant Gardener, Matthew Jacobs recognized by Bar America, Rhys Coiro well-known in Entourage, and Stephen Dorff best remembered in Blade. Each one will play Cornwall, Kent, Albany, Gloucester, Oswald, and Poor Tom, respectively.

In February, it was revealed that Al Pacino would play the lead role, while Chastain would portray Goneril, in a production.

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that after more than a decade of dedicated work by the talented Al, this extraordinary project is finally coming to life. With Bernard Rose’s exceptional script and his daring, innovative perspective at the helm, we’re bringing this cinematic dream to the screen.

“I am so excited to team up again with Jess since Pacino’s Wilde Salome.”

In a different phrasing, Rose (Immortal Beloved) stated: “Al and I plan to create an innovative, cinematic interpretation of King Lear that will resonate as deeply with modern viewers as it did with its original spectators. I am elated to have Jessica Chastain embark on this adventure with us.”
