Garth Brooks Accused of Raping His & Trisha Yearwood's Makeup Artist

As a lifestyle expert with over three decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I have seen my fair share of scandals and controversies. However, the allegations against Garth Brooks are particularly troubling. It is never acceptable for anyone, especially someone in a position of power like Brooks, to take advantage of an employee in such a despicable manner.

Garth Brooks is facing legal troubles.

The country musician faces accusations of assault, battery, and sexual battery in a legal claim filed by their former hairdresser and makeup artist, as reported by TopMob News based on the documents they’ve acquired. Trisha Yearwood is his wife.

On October 3rd, in court documents, the individual known as ‘Jane Roe’ stated that she commenced employment with Mr. Yearwood in 1999 and began managing his hair and makeup for Ms. Brooks in 2017.

In 2019, “Brooks” was reportedly made aware that “Ms. Roe” was facing financial hardships, which led him to hire her more frequently. This action is alleged to have provided an opportunity for Brooks, the singer known for “Friends in Low Places,” to expose a private side of himself that he typically keeps hidden from the public. This hidden side allegedly believes he has the right to satisfy his sexual desires whenever he wants, and exploiting a female employee for such purposes is perceived as acceptable.

The suit alleges that Brooks was involved in discussions about sexual topics, displayed inappropriate nudity around Ms. Roe, frequently showed her his private areas, and shared explicit sexual fantasies with her. He also reportedly texted sexually suggestive messages to her, discussed having a threesome involving his wife, Ms. Yearwood, and made comments about this prospect.

TopMob News has reached out to reps for Brooks and Yearwood for comment, but has not heard back.

In her lawsuit, Roe claims that during a business trip to Los Angeles for the Grammy Awards in 2019, Brooks sexually assaulted her at the hotel. The court documents state that upon arriving in Los Angeles, Roe was shocked to find out that Brooks had reserved a one-bedroom suite and she did not have a separate room.

According to Roe’s lawsuit, upon reaching their hotel room, it alleges that Brooks stood in the doorway of the bedroom, entirely without clothing. In this situation, Roe claims to have felt trapped in the room, all by herself with Brooks, lacking any assistance, and being quite distant from Nashville.

The lawsuit says that the assault was “painful and traumatic” for Roe and that, “She was helpless to move from his grip and terrified at what was happening to her.”

According to the lawsuit, Roe ceased employment with Brooks and Yearwood approximately in May 2021 and subsequently relocated to Mississippi.

Her lawyers allege in the docs that when they contacted Brooks to disclose that she “was prepared to file a complaint in California to hold him accountable for his sexual assaults,” Brooks retaliated and “used the fact that Ms. Roe had dared to speak about the harm he forced on her as an opportunity to inflict even more harm and pain on Ms. Roe.”

“The lawsuit claims that on September 13, 2024, while allegedly negotiating with Ms. Roe about her lawsuits against him, Brooks filed a preemptive lawsuit (called ‘John Doe v. Jane Roe’) under the Declaratory Judgment Act in the Northern Division of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi.

As a committed supporter speaking in my own words, I’m sharing that Roe is seeking both monetary compensation and additional compensation, which could be in the form of punitive or exemplary damages, based on her lawsuit. Furthermore, she is requesting any further relief the court considers appropriate.

Earlier, Brooks had rejected Roe’s assertions. As identified as John Doe in his lawsuit, according to CNN, he stated that Roe’s attorney sent him a confidential letter demanding that he had engaged in sexual misconduct following his decision not to accept Roe’s job offer with salary and health benefits.

As an ardent supporter of Brooks, I can emphatically say that the accusations brought forth by the Defendant are baseless. The Defendant is fully cognizant of the severe, unfixable harm such false claims would inflict on Brooks’ hard-won reputation as an honorable and compassionate individual. Moreover, the potential fallout to his family and the irrevocable damage to his career and livelihood that could ensue if she follows through on her promise to publicly file this concocted lawsuit are not lost on me.

The legal team representing Roe, which includes Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen, and Hayley Baker, told NBC News that Brooks’ attempt to suppress Roe by filing a preemptive complaint in Mississippi was merely a desperate move aimed at intimidation.

They also stated their belief that Brooks will face consequences for his behavior, praising their client’s bravery in filing a complaint against Garth Brooks. This action underscores the fact that sexual misconduct is not exclusive to corporate environments, the entertainment industry, or the genres of rap and rock, but can be found even within the realm of country music.
