Garth Brooks Performs in Las Vegas Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

As a long-time fan of Garth Brooks, I’ve always admired his talent and the way he connects with his audience. However, recent allegations against him have left me feeling deeply troubled. As someone who has followed his career since the 90s, I never imagined this day would come.

For Garth Brooks, the show will go on.

Following allegations of sexual assault and battery against him in a lawsuit brought forth by his ex-makeup artist and hairdresser, the country singer persisted with his ongoing tour, performing later on in Las Vegas.

On Instagram, October 3rd, Brooks expressed, “Tonight seemed like the one night I truly yearned for this experience.” He added a picture of the crowd at his show at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum. “I owe my life to you all!!!” he exclaimed.

Before the performance, the artist famously known for “Friends in Low Places” – who has been married to Trisha Yearwood since 2005 – spoke up for the first time with a statement dismissing the accusations and implicating an anonymous individual in attempts of extortion.

Over the past two months, I’ve been subjected to constant pressure through threats, falsehoods, and sad stories about my future if I didn’t write a large sum of money, as I shared in a statement to TopMob News on October 3. It feels like someone is waving a loaded gun at me. Money meant to buy silence, regardless of the amount, is still hush money.

He added, “In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of—ugly acts no human should ever do to another.”

He expressed his intentions, saying, “I’m planning to play some music this evening. I aim to keep doing good actions in the future.” He added, “It saddens me that these wonderful things are being questioned now. I have faith in the system, I am not afraid of truth, and I am not the person they have portrayed me as.

The lawsuit acquired by TopMob News, which identifies Brooks’ ex-employee as “Jane Roe“, claims that the singer was aware she was facing financial hardships and took advantage of the situation to expose a private side of Brooks, one he typically keeps hidden from the public.

In 2019, Roe claims that the 62-year-old repeatedly sexually assaulted her on several occasions. Specifically, she alleges that during their work trip for the Grammy Awards, Brooks raped her after reserving a room for both of them without her knowledge or consent.

According to the lawsuit, Roe claimed to have been in a vulnerable situation, feeling isolated in the room with only Brooks, with no assistance nearby and quite distant from Nashville. It was then that Brooks allegedly entered the bedroom door, entirely bare.

Apart from this, she alleges that Brooks repeatedly exposed himself, shared inappropriate sexual fantasies, and sent explicit text messages to her. This man, who has daughters Taylor (aged 32), August (30), and Allie (28) with ex-partner Sandra Mahl, is the subject of these accusations.

In 1999, Roe commenced employment with the couple, and in 2017, took over styling both their hair and makeup. However, by around May 2021, Roe had ceased working for this duo.

Initially, the singer had chosen to remain anonymous while pursuing a legal case concerning the allegations against him. Previously, he had publicly denied these accusations.

Brooks stated to TopMob News that we initiated a lawsuit about four weeks back, primarily to challenge extortion and slander. The reason for filing it anonymously was to protect the families involved on both sides.

Based on documents acquired by CNN, the singer’s statement indicates that Roe understands the significant, permanent harm such false accusations would cause to the Plaintiff’s hard-won reputation as an honest and compassionate individual. If Roe were to proceed with a baseless lawsuit, this is also referenced in the statement.

In response, Roe’s attorneys shared that their client would move forward with her lawsuit.

The lawyers commended their client’s bravery for pursuing her grievance against Garth Brooks, as expressed in a statement to NBC News. This action highlights that individuals who exploit others sexually can be found not just in corporate settings, the entertainment industry, or popular music genres like rap and rock, but also within the realm of country music.
