Garth Brooks Says Rape Accuser Wanted to Blackmail Him for "Millions"

As a die-hard Garth Brooks fan who has followed his career since the days of “Friends in Low Places,” I find myself deeply troubled by the recent allegations against him. It’s hard to imagine the man behind such heartfelt ballads and down-to-earth charm being involved in such serious misconduct.

Garth Brooks is fighting back against a woman’s sexual assault allegations.

Before a woman, pseudonymously known as Jane Roe, accused him of rape and other sexual misconduct in a California lawsuit, the country star took action by filing a preemptive lawsuit in Mississippi to prevent her from suing him. However, once his identity was revealed in the media, he amended the complaint to include the woman’s actual name.

[Brooks] is being subjected to an extortion attempt,” the country stated in documents submitted on October 8, which were later obtained by TopMob News. When Jane Roe threatened to disseminate false information about him, with the intention of extorting millions of dollars from him, he initiated this lawsuit to safeguard his reputation, uncover the truth, and dismantle her scheme.

In the revised lawsuit filed on October 8th (and obtained by TopMob News), Brooks claimed that two months before his accuser initiated her lawsuit, he received a demand letter from her legal representative. This letter contained accusations of inappropriate “grooming” for sexual purposes, establishing a sexually aggressive work environment, unwanted sexual contact, and sexual misconduct.

According to the documents, the woman claims she believes that [Brooks] intended to pay someone to carry out an assassination against her.

In his July letter, she warned that she would initiate a public civil lawsuit against him if he didn’t consent to paying her a substantial amount, roughly equating to millions of dollars.

As a follower of the man behind “Friends in Low Places,” I’d like to share that he suggested the accusations against him were a form of retaliation. This came about after a woman, who had worked with him for approximately 15 years as an independent contractor, requested salaried employment and medical benefits. Unfortunately, he mentioned that he couldn’t fulfill her demands at the time.

He mentioned that he decided to reveal her name in the revised lawsuit was prompted by her attorney disclosing Brooks during discussions about the legal dispute with a news organization.

According to the documents, she informed the court less than 48 hours after filing her opposition, followed by making Brooks’ identity public through the media.

The woman’s legal team slammed his decision to name her.

They stated to the Hollywood Reporter that Garth Brooks has unveiled his authentic self. However, it’s alleged that instead of acting out of remorse or compassion, he chose to identify a sexual assault survivor in public.

The statement continued, “With no legal justification, Brooks outed her because he thinks the laws don’t apply to him. On behalf of our client, we will be moving for maximum sanctions against him immediately.”

In her legal complaint, the woman alleged that Brooks frequently discussed sexual topics, intentionally showed himself to her, shared his sexual fantasies, sent her suggestive text messages, and mentioned wanting a threesome with his spouse, namely Trisha Yearwood.

In her filing, “Roe” claims that Brooks sexually assaulted her in a hotel room during a work trip in 2019. When her lawyers attempted to inform him that she was planning to file a complaint against him in California for his sexual misconduct, he allegedly retaliated by exploiting the fact that she had spoken up about the harm he inflicted on her as a chance to cause her further harm and distress.

In the scenario of feigning negotiations with Ms. Roe to address her lawsuits against him, on September 13, 2024, according to the lawsuit, Brooks submitted an anticipatory and abusive complaint against Ms. Roe under the Declaratory Judgment Act.

In simpler terms, the person bringing charges is requesting both “compensation (to cover losses) and punishment-based damages” from the court. Additionally, they are asking for any additional remedies the court believes to be suitable in this case.

Brooks’ revised legal claim asserts that he has experienced emotional turmoil and claims the woman’s attempted blackmail of him through false, indecent accusations amounts to deliberate, shocking behavior. This behavior was intended to and indeed caused him significant psychological harm.

He wants a jury trial, both compensatory and punitive damages, a court declaration that the woman’s claims of sexual misconduct against him are baseless, and an injunction to prevent him from continuing his attempts at extortion, defamation, invasion of privacy through false light, and following through on threats to broadly disseminate untrue accusations.
