Gavin & Stacey begins filming final ever episode – BBC confirms with pic

As a long-time admirer of British sitcoms, I must confess that the news of Gavin & Stacey’s return has left me positively giddy with excitement! It’s been far too long since we last visited Barry and Essex, and the thought of spending another Christmas Day in their company is a delightful prospect indeed.

The last-ever installment of Gavin & Stacey started filming, assembling the cast and team for production. This special episode will be aired during Christmas this year.

Well, I’ve just seen the first slate of our beloved series, Gavin & Stacey, being filmed for the big screen! It’s official – we’re back, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Can’t hide it, really. Mark your calendars for Christmas Day, folks, because you won’t want to miss this reunion on iPlayer! #GavinandStacey #ChristmasDayExcitement

At the same time, James Corden, who co-created and stars in the show “Smithy”, also verified the news, sharing an image of Smithy’s van on his personal Instagram with the caption: “First day! Let’s get started, x”

Over the weekend, British comedian Rob Brydon sparked enthusiasm among his followers by sharing a photo of him next to co-creator and actress Ruth Jones, who plays Nessa. The caption read: “Something’s brewing… #GavinandStacey”

As a dedicated fan, I’m eagerly anticipating the specifics about the storyline and characters for this upcoming special, but one thing is certain – our beloved core cast will be back!

Reports indicate that Sheridan Smith might reprise her role as Rudi, Smithy’s sister, according to unofficial talks that took place with the actress in May, as stated by The Sunday Mirror.

Recently, Brydon revealed that he first read the script “about a month ago” and called it “fantastic”.

He continued: “Do you know what? I was moved to tears, because it’s emotional.”

Spectators might find it unexpected that filming is just starting now, considering the movie’s planned Christmas release. Earlier this year, Corden himself acknowledged that meeting the deadline for completion and delivery will be challenging.

He explained: “Building that show, it’s like building a Jenga puzzle. Cast availability and things like that. I think it’ll be okay.”

Gavin & Stacey returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Christmas Day.
