As a long-time enthusiast of the Gears of War franchise, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia upon hearing the news that John DiMaggio and Carlos Ferro will be reprising their roles as Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago respectively for the upcoming title, Gears of War: E-Day. Their voices have been integral to the series since its inception, and their return is like a warm, familiar embrace from an old friend.
Gears of War: E-Day appears to be harkening back to the early days of the series in various aspects, such as its linear gameplay design, eerie atmospheric elements, and setting on Emergence Day. Additionally, the game is set to bring back Marcus Fenix and Dominique Santiago, who were pivotal characters in the original trilogy, as the main protagonists. Predictably, their voice actors will be reprising their roles for this new installment.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share the exciting news! Microsoft confirmed it through their official Gears of War Twitter account. They announced that John DiMaggo and Carlos Ferro, who are the voices behind Marcus and Dom respectively, will both be returning to their roles for the upcoming E-Day event. Can’t wait to hear them again in action!
In every major release of the “Gears of War” series, DiMaggio has portrayed Marcus Fenix, continuing to do so in “Gears of War 4” and “Gears 5.” Interestingly, even though Marcus was no longer the main playable character, DiMaggio still lent his voice to these games. Similarly, Ferro has reprised Dom’s role for the multiplayer aspects of both “Gears of War 4” and “Gears 5,” despite “Gears of War 3” being Dom’s supposed final appearance in the series.
The game titled “Gears of War: E-Day” is currently being worked on for both Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms. As of now, an official release date has yet to be unveiled; however, rumors suggest that the game may debut in the year 2025.
