Gears of War: Reloaded Could be Skipping Physical Release on Xbox

The popular “Gears of War” series is set to appear on PlayStation platforms as part of Microsoft’s growing multiplatform publishing strategy, which is an expansion beyond just Xbox. However, it’s worth noting that the upcoming game “Gears of War: Reloaded” might bypass Xbox entirely for a physical release.

As a gaming enthusiast, it appears that Game España’s listing for the Resident Evil 3 remaster might be hinting at something. A user on Resetera spotted the page on their website (which has since been removed), suggesting a physical release on PlayStation 5 and PC, but no mention of Xbox Series X. When I inquired about it on Twitter, they confirmed that they’ve only received confirmation for its release on PS5 and PC at the moment, which leaves me questioning whether we’ll see a physical launch on Xbox.

Indeed, while it’s not yet a definite announcement, the recent focus Microsoft has shown on digital content for Xbox could potentially raise concerns, particularly among those who prefer to own tangible copies of their games.

Gears of War: Reloaded is due out on August 26 for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
