The development team behind Gears of War: Reloaded, known as The Coalition, has shared that they’re adding additional features to their second multiplayer beta. On their official platform X, they’ve disclosed that apart from Social Team Deathmatch and Competitive King of the Hill game modes, players will also have an opportunity to test out the Competitive Execution mode.
Not only that, but the studio has additionally verified that the Canals map will feature in the upcoming beta test. The second beta session begins on June 20th at 12 pm Pacific Daylight Time and concludes on Sunday, June 22nd, 9 pm PDT. It’s also anticipated that cross-play functionality will be active during this second beta phase as well.
The studio announced on social media, “We’ve taken note of your feedback.” They’re adding more maps, game modes, and extra playtime to this weekend’s Multiplayer test. Now, you can also try out the Execution mode, as well as King of the Hill (KOTH).
Last weekend, between June 13 and June 15, the first beta for “Gears of War: Reloaded” was held. This beta was accessible to individuals who had previously pre-ordered the game. Additionally, it’s open to subscribers of Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass, as well as people who already own a digital version of “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition”.
Back in May, they announced that I’ll be able to dive back into the gritty world of “Gears of War: Reloaded” starting August 26.
Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of tuning into a podcast where Kate Rayner, the technical director, and Mike Crump, the studio head, shared their insights on the development of Gears of War: Reloaded. They discussed various aspects of the game, such as the significant visual enhancements it offers compared to the original version, as well as the extensive efforts they’ve made to strengthen the foundations needed for its multiplayer modes.
Rayner explained, “We’ve completely upgraded this version to work optimally with current technology. If you compare it to the original, we’ve boosted the resolution by a whopping 900% and doubled the frame rate. Now, the campaign runs at an impressive 60 frames per second, and multiplayer can handle both 60 and 120 frames per second. This version also includes variable refresh rates, native high-dynamic range lighting, and has unlocked 4K assets and ultra-resolution textures that were absent in the console versions of the game.
Our game now features enhanced 3D spatial audio, along with upgraded lighting effects, more realistic shadows, and improved reflections. In essence, we’ve significantly elevated the overall quality across all devices, making
In terms of multiplayer, Rayner confirmed that Gears of War: Reloaded will feature dedicated servers specifically for Player vs Player games in multiple data centers globally. These servers will continuously collect data at a rate of 60 times per second, enhancing the gaming experience by making it more responsive.
We’ve taken note of your feedback. Expect more maps, gameplay options, and additional playing time in this weekend’s Multiplayer Beta. Now, you’ll also get to enjoy the Execution mode alongside King of the Hill (KOTH).
