George Miller celebrates his 80th birthday on Monday, yet this renowned director shows no signs of slowing down. Over the past decade, he’s given us two blockbuster Mad Max films, and it seems there’s another post-apocalyptic spectacle brewing in the pipeline. However, fans might have to be patient before they can enjoy the final product.

View Urgent ForecastIn a recent conversation with Vulture, Miller shared that an additional Mad Max script is prepared. It’s unclear if this will be a continuation of Fury Road or another prequel like Furiosa, but it seems that making the next Mad Max film isn’t Miller’s immediate focus at the moment.
Miller shared with Vulture that they have another script in hand. Having been in the storytelling profession for quite some time, Miller admits to having an overflow of stories – not just ideas swirling in their mind, but also numerous screenplays or detailed notes that are close to becoming screenplays. Essentially, Miller considers themselves a seasoned daydreamer. As a child, this love for daydreaming was seen as a weakness in school, with comments like “George would perform better at school if they didn’t daydream so much” appearing on report cards.
In a subsequent discussion, Miller revealed that he’s got numerous tales he intends to share, with one being another addition to the Mad Max series. Yet, there are two other movies he plans to produce before that.
The director said, “There are many tales, one of which is a ‘Mad Max’ story. However, that isn’t my immediate plan as there are two other tasks I’m eager to tackle next.” But if circumstances should conspire in an unusual way, who knows? Making plans for a movie can be unpredictable. Sometimes events unfold smoothly and sometimes they don’t, so all I can say is we’ll have to wait and see.
Action enthusiasts are undoubtedly crossing their fingers, hoping that the stars will align, allowing Miller to produce another Mad Max movie. In 2015, when he re-entered the franchise, Miller produced what numerous critics consider among the best action films ever made with Mad Max: Fury Road. Last year, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premiered in theaters, serving as a prequel to Fury Road and revealing Furiosa’s origin story (with Anya Taylor-Joy taking over the role from Charlize Theron). Although it didn’t generate the box office success that was anticipated, it quickly became a favorite among many fans.
