Dead by Daylight, one of the most enduringly popular horror video games, has maintained a strong player base nine years after its debut and is soon to be joined in its universe by another chapter expansion – the much-anticipated addition of characters from the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. Fans will get their first look at this new collaboration during PAX East on May 9th, where they can expect to learn which characters from Five Nights at Freddy’s will be making the transition as both the Killer and Survivor in the game, and possibly even receive a release date for the DLC.
Although some users of X had shared previews ahead of schedule, the PAX account officially disclosed the preview’s debut at PAX East on March 14th at 9 a.m. The preview is scheduled for May 9th at 11 a.m., and it forms part of the festivities marking the 9-year anniversary of Dead by Daylight. Shortly after, the official Dead by Daylight account shared the PAX account’s post, verifying the details.

It’s worth noting that what started as a popular fan theory eventually became one of the most eagerly awaited crossovers in Dead by Daylight history for Five Nights at Freddy’s. This was confirmed by Behaviour Interactive in 2024. After its announcement, fans have been eagerly waiting for this Chapter, which is set to release in Summer 2025 – a date revealed shortly after the 10th anniversary of Five Nights at Freddy’s. It’s rumored that Scott Cawthon hinted at the crossover to fans before its official announcement. Prior to the confirmation, fans often speculated about the release of a Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover with each new Chapter, frequently mistaking the teaser killers for characters from the iconic animatronic killers of Five Nights at Freddy’s, particularly Springtrap.
In other words, it’s not the first time that “Dead by Daylight” has collaborated with other games, as it already hosts several iconic horror characters from various sources, including well-known figures in the horror genre who have expressed interest in being part of a crossover. The announcement for a sneak peek of Five Nights at Freddy’s was made shortly after the Tokyo Ghoul crossover went live on the test server, introducing Ken Kaneki into the game.
