Earlier today, PlayStation held its first State of Play for 2025 which had a lot of great new looks at highly anticipated games. While the show was pretty jam-packed, PlayStation has already confirmed its next State of Play.
PlayStation’s Next State of Play Is Just a Few Months Away
During today’s broadcast, Sony announced that the next State of Play for PlayStation would focus on Borderlands 4, leaving fans pleasantly surprised. A new trailer and release date were revealed for Borderlands 4, confirming it as the main topic of the upcoming State of Play. This suggests that other games, particularly those unrelated to Borderlands, may not be included in the next State of Play. The Borderlands 4 State of Play is scheduled for some time during the spring, possibly around April or May. While specifics about length and additional features are yet to be confirmed, a significant gameplay demo showcasing the changes in Borderlands 4’s gameplay is expected.
Often, Sony’s PlayStation platform hosts dedicated showcases focusing primarily on one specific game. Titles like The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima have had their own dedicated events in the past. However, it’s less frequent for non-exclusive games to receive this treatment. Usually, a third-party developer would present such information during its own broadcast. It appears that Sony may have secured some marketing rights for Borderlands 4, explaining why they might be promoting it more intensively as the game nears release.
The anticipated release of “Borderlands 4” on September 23rd provides a clue about the possible launch date for “GTA 6”. Both games are from Take-Two Interactive, and this year seems to be packed with releases from them. Since “GTA 6” is expected in the fall, it appears that it might come out around late October or early November, giving “Borderlands 4” some room to make its mark. However, this timing is speculative at this point, based on the information available so far.
