If you didn’t catch “Heart Eyes” in cinemas earlier this year or have been holding back from renting or buying it digitally, you’ll be pleased to hear that this romantic-comedy-slashers movie is now coming to Netflix from May 8, 2025. The film, starring Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding, introduced us to the title character – a serial killer on a spree who mistook the two colleagues for a Valentine’s Day couple.
I’m excited to share that I’ll get to watch the new movie “Heart Eyes” starting May 8, exclusively on Netflix. It will stay on Netflix for a good 18 months before it moves to Hulu. This is part of Sony Pictures’ agreement with Netflix, where all their 2025 theatrical releases will be available there a few months after their initial premiere. Other exciting titles like “Karate Kid: Legends” and “Until Dawn” are also set to debut on Netflix later this year. I can hardly wait!
Apart from Holt and Gooding, the cast of “Heart Eyes” also includes Gigi Zumbado, Michaela Watkins, Devon Sawa, Yoson An, and Jordana Brewster. This movie was made with a budget of $18 million, but it went on to earn $32 million at the box office. When MovieWeb’s Julian Roman inquired about a possible sequel, director Josh Ruben shared his thoughts:
[Writers] Chris Landon, Michael Kennedy, and I quickly agreed on the idea of a sequel. The question was posed, ‘What if we could?’ and we all found ourselves thinking along the same lines, though I can’t disclose where that led us. Regarding Heart Eyes, let me reiterate that there are certainly more opportunities for play. There’s plenty more potential actions to be taken.
