Ghost of Yōtei “Always Felt Great” to Play, Says Shuhei Yoshida

Although the eagerly-awaited sequel to “Ghost of Tsushima,” titled “Ghost of Yōtei,” is due out this year, an exact release date has yet to be announced. Moreover, while we’ve only had a glimpse of gameplay thus far, it has been confirmed that new weapon types and PlayStation 5 Pro compatibility are features in the game, according to the official PlayStation website.

Initially during its developmental phase, Shuhei Yoshida – former president of SIE Worldwide Studios – tried out the game and provided extensive praise. In an interview on the Easy Allies Podcast, he shared that the game was remarkably bug-free and seldom crashed. He also mentioned that despite numerous changes to the battle system, it consistently functioned smoothly.

After parting ways with Sony, Yoshida was asked to test the game and share his insights. He expressed that it was always a rewarding experience. Furthermore, he commended Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch for consistently making games feel authentic and effortless to play, stating that their games felt incredibly natural and intuitive.

The story of the Yōtei Ghost unfolds approximately 300 years following the events in Tsushima, focusing instead on a new main character named Atsu. Driven by the desire for vengeance against those who murdered her family, she adopts the alias ‘Ghost’ and embarks on a journey to Hokkaido. Here, she accepts various bounties as she progresses.

Although specifics are still under wraps, Sucker Punch assures us that players will gain greater narrative control. Keep an eye out for future announcements until then.
