Ghost of Yōtei Announced by PlayStation and Ghost of Tsushima Creators

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for immersive storytelling and breathtaking landscapes, I am beyond excited about the upcoming sequel to Ghost of Tsushima – Ghost of Y?tei! After the captivating journey through feudal Japan with Jin Sakai, I can’t wait to embark on a new adventure with a fresh protagonist, Atsu. The trailer has certainly whet my appetite for more, and the tantalizing glimpse into the lands surrounding Mount Y?tei has left me eager to explore its sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and hidden dangers.

In a recent announcement, Sony and Sucker Punch Productions revealed plans for a spin-off titled Ghost of Y?tei, following up on the success of their 2020 release, Ghost of Tsushima. While the original game centered around Jin Sakai as its protagonist, the new game will introduce a fresh character: Atsu. This week also saw the unveiling of the first trailer for the upcoming sequel, which was confirmed to be among several games set to benefit from enhanced performance on the PlayStation 5 Pro console.

The spirit of Y?tei is set to appear in 2025, according to announcements made this week by both PlayStation and Sucker Punch. However, a precise release date has yet to be disclosed. Unlike Ghost of Tsushima, which was available on both the PS4 and PS5, Ghost of Y?tei will only be playable on the PS5. You can watch the first trailer for Ghost of Y?tei below, where it initially seemed like a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima until it was clarified that the masked character portrayed was not Jin.

1603 finds a spirit entity named Atsu embarking on an adventure across the expansive landscapes surrounding Mount Y?tei, a region characterized by vast plains, snowy wastelands, and hidden perils. This is a snapshot of the upcoming Sucker Punch video game. Ghost of Y?tei is slated for release on PlayStation 5 in 2025.

In the next installment of Ghost of Tsushima, there appears to be a significant time jump since the original game took place in 1274. This leap forward seems to set up a larger Ghost of Tsushima universe, as hinted by some differences we’ve noticed between this new setting and the previous one. For instance, characters are now using rifles, an item that was not part of Jin’s inventory in the original game.

The ghostly game titled Y?tei is planned for launch on the PlayStation 5 console in 2025. Considering PlayStation’s recent efforts to port both PS4 and PS5 games to PC, there’s a good chance that PC gamers using Steam and the Epic Games Store won’t have to wait much longer after its PlayStation debut before they can enjoy it on their computers as well.
