Suddenly, without prior notice, the game “Ghost of Yotei” has resurfaced in the headlines, bringing with it new details about its exclusive release on PlayStation 5.
It turns out that some intriguing fresh details have emerged from Famitsu’s recent conversation with directors Nate Fox and Jason Cornell, as reported by VGC.
Instead, it appears that the game’s narrative focuses on Atsu’s quest for revenge against the Yotei Six, but it seems the gameplay won’t strictly follow a sequence of predetermined, linear story missions.
From what I gather, it seems that you can choose the sequence in which you aim to capture the Yotei Six. However, the exact extent of your decision-making freedom for this main goal isn’t fully clarified yet. But Fox emphasizes that player choice is a significant aspect of the game’s structure.
Speaking about open-world adventures, the Ghost of Yotei offers the most extensive freedom and largest map compared to any other open-world game we’ve developed thus far.
Earlier, Ghost of Tsushima stood out as the most expansive project undertaken by the studio. Prior to this, the inFAMOUS series could be more accurately labeled as “sandbox” games rather than completely open-world titles, yet they were quite substantial in scale.
During the interview, they discussed Sucker Punch’s strategy to honor Japan as a backdrop in their work. Notably, Ghost of Tsushima garnered much acclaim for its authentic portrayal of the region and culture, and it’s no wonder that they wish to maintain this approach for the sequel.
In this project, as in our previous one, we’ve collaborated with numerous experts to ensure accurate portrayal of the Ainu people and their culture during that era. Additionally, we’ve delved deeply into Japanese culture and woven its essence into our work for an authentic touch.
With Ghost of Tsushima being an outstanding game that continues to impress, we have high expectations for Ghost of Yotei. Everything we’ve learned about it sounds promising.
