Gilbert Arenas’ Son Alijah Wakes Up From Coma After Tesla Crash

Alijah Arenas is on the road to recovery.

18-year-old son of the former NBA player Gilbert Arenas and ex-partner Laura Govan was placed in an induced coma on April 24 following injuries from a crash involving a Tesla Cybertruck in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. However, there’s good news as he has regained consciousness and is now making a “remarkable and hopeful” recovery, according to his family’s representative, as reported by TMZ.

I, a dedicated follower, report that Alijah remains intubated, as shared by the representative. However, he has found a way to communicate through writing. His family, which consists of Izela (19), Hamiley (14), and Aloni (13), continues to stand by his side during his recovery process. The spokesperson further added this information.

At approximately 5 a.m. on April 24th, police were dispatched following reports of an accident involving a teenager. The incident occurred when the teenager’s vehicle, possibly also hitting a fire hydrant, collided with a tree, according to the Los Angeles Police Department as stated to NBC News 4 Los Angeles.

According to law enforcement, the exact reason for the crash remains unclear, but preliminary findings suggest that excessive speeding may have played a role in the accident.

In early March, Alijah – one of 48 top high school basketball players chosen for the McDonald’s All American Game – announced his decision to further his basketball career at the University of Southern California, which he made in January. After hearing about Alijah’s accident, USC’s coach, Eric Musselman, expressed a message of support not only to Alijah but also to the entire Arenas family.

On April 24th, he expressed that our sympathies go out to Alijah and his kin after the morning’s unfortunate accident. He kindly asked everyone to send their well-wishes to him, his teammates, friends, and the entire Arenas family.

Not long after the incident became known, Laura, who had been in a relationship with Gilbert between 2002 and 2014, also posted on Instagram using prayer hand emojis, “I could really use your prayers right now.

Gilbert, who shares a 10-year-old daughter named Gia with ex Lindsay Faulk, hasn’t issued a personal statement yet, but he did express his pride when his son participated in the McDonald’s All American Game recently.

In a recent Instagram post on April 4th, I found myself quite astonished as I witnessed him immerse himself deeply into the game. Not just physically, but mentally too. It’s remarkable to see him crafting his unique playing style and setting his own standards for work ethic.

TopMob News has attempted to contact the representative of the Arenas family about Alijah’s progress, but we have not received a response as of now.

11-year-old Adam Devine was struck by a cement truck, leaving him with injuries that continue to impact him up until now.

Devine stated during an episode of the “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” podcast in 2025, “It’s been a living hell,” he said. “I’ve been experiencing seizures everywhere. At one point, they told me I was close to death—actually, within this last year.

A former contestant from Bachelor Nation revealed that he had to visit the hospital, moving on his hands and knees because of intense back pain that worsened during a camping trip with a companion in an RV.

In the March 2025 episode of his “Trading Secrets” podcast, he stated that his feet and knees were still numb, which was surprising to him. To give some context, around two to four weeks prior, he might have been squatting approximately 295 pounds. Now, he’s unable to do a single-leg squat without falling over, making it seem like he suffered a stroke or similar condition.

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

In a hockey game in December 2024, an AHL player got injured when another player’s skate accidentally sliced him open. He needed 25 stitches to close the wound. Later, when his father, New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald, spoke to ESPN after his son had fully healed, he expressed gratitude and said, “We were incredibly fortunate. I wouldn’t want that happening to any parent.

In March 2025, Gina Kirschenheiter from The Real Housewives of Orange County revealed that her former spouse, Matt Kirschenheiter, had experienced a heart attack. Fortunately, he managed to pull through this challenging incident.

In March 2025, during a New York Knicks basketball match, the prominent figure from 30 Rock had a health emergency, causing him to be transported outside of Madison Square Garden in a stretcher.

On the next day, the comedian posted an update on social media, explaining it was a matter of food poisoning and he was recovering.

Back in February of 2025, I, as an ardent admirer and follower of the Even Stevens alum, found myself in a heart-stopping moment when she revealed an extraordinary incident that had occurred during our cherished celebration for Brendan Rooney’s birthday. The occasion was marked with a thrilling clay pigeon shooting trip, but the joy was abruptly interrupted as she bravely shared that she had been accidentally shot in the face during this adventure.

In a recent incident, I found myself unfortunate victim of another party’s reckless actions. They discharged their weapon unsafely and it struck me in the face. In that moment, @thebrendanrooney swiftly took charge, assessed my condition, and quickly transported me to the hospital. The bullet had hit me in five different spots, with one narrowly missing my right eye by less than an inch.

The former star of “Kim Possible” added, “Regrettably, a piece became stuck at the back of my eye, and it’s not safe to have surgery to remove it right now. My doctors are keeping a close watch on me, and I can see clearly for now.

She expressed her heartfelt gratitude for being alive, adding, “My affection for my daughters, husband, loved ones, and friends runs deep.” She continued by describing a moment where she felt her life pass before her eyes, emphasizing that we should cherish the opportunities to embrace those around us. Life, she warned, can unexpectedly alter in the blink of an eye.

Despite the internet often being less than compassionate, Amy Schumer is grateful that this time it provided her with valuable insights. After receiving a barrage of comments following several interviews, she found herself saying, “Everyone, take a breath,” on an episode of Call Her Daddy in January 2025. However, medical professionals began chiming in with concerns about her appearance and suggested she might have Cushing syndrome.

Perplexed, Amy wondered, “Am I being trolled by doctors?” After these doctors pointed out potential symptoms such as increased cortisol levels or steroid injections, the creator of Life & Beth started to connect the dots. She had been receiving steroid injections for her scars from a breast reduction and C-section.

Realizing this could be the cause of her suspected Cushing syndrome, Amy said, “It turns out I’ve been getting these steroid injections, which led to this condition called Cushing syndrome, something I wouldn’t have known about if the internet hadn’t criticized me so heavily.”

Now, Amy is simply relieved that she’s healthy. As she shared in her February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, “The news that I have a type of Cushing syndrome that will resolve itself and that I am otherwise healthy was the best possible outcome.

Hailey Bieber experienced a truly terrifying incident in March 2022 while having breakfast with husband Justin Bieber. She began showing signs similar to a stroke, such as speech difficulties and facial drooping. Hailey recalled, “I couldn’t respond because I wasn’t sure… I couldn’t get a sentence out.”

Thankfully, her symptoms subsided, but she was prompted to seek medical attention to ensure her well-being. The doctors discovered a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Further examination at the University of California, Los Angeles, revealed a hole in Hailey’s heart called patent foramen ovale (PFO).

Hailey explained that the blood clot had moved from her heart through this hole and into her brain, causing the TIA. She underwent a successful PFO closure procedure and is now feeling well.

In the same year Hailey had her health issue, Justin also encountered one of his own. Specifically, in June 2022, the “Baby” singer revealed that he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, a condition that led to temporary paralysis in parts of his face and compelled him to postpone the rest of his Justice World Tour.

During an Instagram video at the time, Justin explained that this virus affected the nerve in his ear and facial nerves, leading to facial paralysis: “As you can see, this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move. So, there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”

Interestingly, he mentioned that it became increasingly difficult for him to eat due to the condition. However, over time, the paralysis subsided.

Hailey commented on a June 2022 episode of Good Morning America, saying “He’s doing really well,” and added that although it was a scary and unexpected situation, Justin would be completely fine. She expressed her gratitude for his recovery.

Jamie Foxx initially chose to keep secret his hospitalization in April 2023, but later shared his experience. In Atlanta, he recalled saying, “I had such a severe headache, so I asked my friend, ‘Give me an aspirin.’ Unfortunately, before I could get the aspirin, I fainted and lost consciousness for about 20 days.”

Later, a doctor administered him a cortisone shot and sent him home. However, his sister Deidra Dixon recognized something was wrong and drove him to another hospital where they discovered he had suffered a brain bleed leading to a stroke. After undergoing surgery on the 20th day, Foxx woke up in a wheelchair on May 4 and could not walk. He then traveled to Chicago for rehabilitation and therapy.

“I want to express my gratitude for every prayer,” he said, “as I truly needed them all.

Actress Emilia Clarke, famously known for her role in Game of Thrones, penned an essay titled “A Battle for My Life” in 2019. In the piece, she described a harrowing experience at the gym where she was struck by an excruciating headache. As she vomited profusely and the pain intensified, she realized her brain had been injured.

Rushed to the hospital for a scan, she was told that she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a potentially fatal type of stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She had an aneurysm, a rupture in one of her arteries. The pain from the surgery to seal the aneurysm was unbearable.

During recovery, she experienced aphasia and spoke incoherently. However, a week later, the aphasia subsided, and she was discharged from the hospital after a month-long stay. In 2013, another brain scan revealed that a growth had doubled in size, necessitating another surgery.

“When they woke me, I was screaming in pain,” she wrote. “The procedure had failed. I had a massive bleed, and the doctors made it clear that my chances of surviving were slim if they didn’t operate again. This time, they needed to access my brain through my skull.”

Fortunately, Emilia is now reportedly in full health and recovery.

Snoop Dogg’s daughter, Cori Broadus, expressed her gratitude towards her family following a severe stroke in January 2024. As soon as she informed them about the incident and shared a picture, everyone rushed to help. Since Cori had other health issues like lupus, her stay at the hospital extended beyond her initial expectations. She mentioned that her kidneys were failing due to lupus complications, making it a challenging time for her. However, today she is recovering well, focusing on regaining some motor skills and otherwise doing fine.

In the early part of her twenties, Shailene Woodley experienced significant health challenges. To the point where she lost some hearing, struggled to walk for extended periods without rest, and found everything she ate upset her stomach. As the actress explained on a September 2024 episode of the SHE MD Podcast, this was a complex mix of health issues, various diagnoses, and contradictory advice from different doctors.

Determined to find answers, Shailene—who has a background in holistic medicine and herbalism—decided to combine traditional medical help with alternative healing methods. She sought guidance from both conventional doctors and independent healers, hoping to find some solace in her body.

This journey spanned over a decade. During this time, other issues arose due to the physical discomfort, such as fear of food, body dysmorphia, confusion about identity, and feelings of insecurity in her own skin.

After addressing both her physical and mental health concerns, Shailene is now feeling much improved. She stated that she has fully recovered and is grateful for her current state of good health.
