As a gamer with a heart full of nostalgia for the golden age of platforming games, the news about Gimmick! 2’s upcoming release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One has sent my excitement soaring higher than Yokai Yumetaro himself!
On December 19 in Japan and January 30, 2025 in the western regions, it has been confirmed that the versions of “Gimmick! 2” for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One will be released. This news comes from publishers SUNSOFT and Clear River Games, as well as developer Bitwave Games.
Gimmick! 2 first launched for Switch and PC via Steam on September 5.

As a passionate fan myself, I’m thrilled to share that the legendary David Wise, known for his exceptional work in the golden age of platforming games, is back to compose the soundtrack for Gimmick! 2. A maestro of platforming and retro tunes, David has crafted some of gaming’s most memorable melodies, such as those from the Donkey Kong Country series, Battletoads, Diddy Kong Racing, and even Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts. I can’t wait to hear his magic again!
