Gintama on Theater 2D: Kintama Arc Poster Released

As a long-time fanatic of the Gintama universe, I can’t help but feel the rush of nostalgia as I gaze upon this stunning poster for the upcoming film, “Gintama on Theater 2D: Kintama Arc“. The memories of those thrilling episodes come flooding back, and it seems like just yesterday that I was eagerly awaiting each new installment.

The popular series Gintama is making a grand comeback to cinemas with special compilation films, as evidenced by the recently released poster for its upcoming release, Gintama on Theater 2D: Kintama Arc. Though Hideaki Sorachi’s original Gintama comic and the television anime concluded a few years ago, the franchise experienced a significant resurgence in 2023 as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations for the franchise. As the manga reaches its 20th anniversary this year (2023), and the anime will hit its own 20th milestone in 2026, Gintama is set to celebrate these anniversaries over the next few years to commemorate both occasions.

Gintama is making a return to Japanese cinemas with its third compilation film, titled “Gintama on Theater 2D: Kintama Arc.” This movie will cover the events of the Kintama Arc, which falls between the Thorny and Courtesan of a Nation storylines. The film will be screened in Japan for three weeks starting November 22nd. You can take a look at the poster released for this exciting return below!

The theatrical version of Gintama’s episodes 253 to 256, titled “Gintama in Theater 2D: Kintama-hen,” will be screened in Japan starting from November 22nd. Here is a fresh look at it: A new presentation of the popular anime series, Gintama.

How to Watch Gintama

“If you’re interested in watching the original TV series of ‘Gintama’, it’s now available for streaming on Crunchyroll. This anime is set in a world where aliens have taken over Edo Period Japan, replacing simple living with skyscrapers, trains, and motorbikes. Amidst this modernization, there’s one man who still embodies the spirit of a samurai – Gintoki Sakata, also known as Yorozuya Gin-san. Despite his reckless nature, Gintoki maintains a strong resolve and is always ready to face any challenge alongside his companions. Additionally, if you prefer physical media, you can find many ‘Gintama’ movies on DVD and Blu-ray.”

It remains uncertain if the Kintama Arc movie will be distributed internationally, as its previous releases didn’t spark any talk of a global launch. However, since these are part of the extensive 20th anniversary celebrations for the Gintama anime and manga (which continues until 2026 for the anime’s anniversary), it’s possible that more new releases are on the horizon, some of which may see an international theater release.
