God of War Fans Gutted with Free 20th Anniversary Goodies

God of War is commemorating its 20th anniversary, and although developer Santa Monica Studio hinted that there wouldn’t be any remasters or re-releases of the original games to celebrate, fans are still disheartened by how the creators are observing this special occasion.

Apart from the latest God of War Ragnarok update that’s already live, you also get a complimentary PlayStation character avatar, honoring the Greek and Norse periods of the series.

Not everyone is satisfied with the offering, however.

A disappointed fan commented, ‘After all this time waiting for God of War’s 20th anniversary, they offer subpar content instead of remastering the entire Greek saga for PS5. It seems they don’t value their supporters who have been loyal to this series since its inception.’

Another person commented, “Frankly, we’re indifferent. It’s disheartening beyond belief that this happened during our 20th anniversary celebration; I simply can’t find a nice way to express my feelings about it.

It was speculated before that Sony might bring back the classic Greek-era games on PS5, possibly within their PS2 emulation project. However, Sony has made it clear in recent announcements that they won’t be launching any titles as part of their celebrations for the 20th anniversary.

It’s reasonable to assume that the classic Greek games will eventually make their way onto the PlayStation 5, meaning this situation might not be as catastrophic as it seems.

All good things come to those who wait.
