There have been whispers that a compilation of the original God of War games for PS5 might be under development, potentially unveiled during the PlayStation State of Play. Sadly, no such announcement was made at the event. Since then, the trail on this collection has grown somewhat cold. However, things seem to be heating up as a trusted source hints at another potential reveal date for the much-awaited compilation.
Located in California, art gallery Nucleus unveiled the God of War 20th Anniversary Showcase. From March 15th to the 23rd, enthusiasts of the series can explore tribute pieces, concept sketches, and collectibles from approximately 30 artists. Notably, this gathering will feature artists who have contributed to the franchise such as Luke Berliner and Cecil Kim. On March 15th itself, there will be a special anniversary discussion with the developers commencing at 4 P.M. Pacific Time, but seating is limited to only 130 individuals. The identities of those joining the panel are still under wraps.
2005 marked the start of an epic saga with the debut of God of War on PlayStation 2. Over two decades, this series has grown to encompass nine games, earning a place among the greatest video game franchises ever created. Join us as we commemorate twenty years of unforgettable experiences from Kratos’ adventures through the rich tapestry of ancient Greek and Norse mythologies that have touched the hearts of millions across the globe!
Discover a unique exhibition featuring homage artwork, design sketches, and collectibles, all showcasing the remarkable history of this fantastic series.
At that location, there’s not a lot of details about the content being displayed except for the artwork from the participating artists. There’s talk about special items available only at this event, such as limited edition prints, Phantasy Arcade Cabinets, Kratos Beach Towels, and Moonbridge Donuts. Additionally, there are other merchandise releases related to the anniversary, but they haven’t been revealed just yet.
According to industry expert Jeff Grubb’s recent post on Bluesky, he hints that we might see a revelation about the anticipated God of War collection for PlayStation 5 during the upcoming anniversary event at Nucleus. However, details about what the panel will specifically display are still scarce.
Grubb stated, “It seems the God of War Remaster rumors may have been a bit premature.” He added, “Such events are likely to occur nearer in time.
If the God of War collection is authentic, it appears to encompass a significant portion of Kratos’ destructive rampage against Greek deities. To be precise, it would comprise the games titled God of War, God of War 2, God of War 3, God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, and God of War: Ascension.
There’s a chance that the God of War collection could just be a rumor with no basis in reality. Nevertheless, it doesn’t change the fact that Kratos continues to challenge powerful entities. Speculations about Kratos’ forthcoming journey have been circulating since the start of this year. In January, Daniel Richtman hinted that the next God of War game would delve into Egyptian mythology. More recently, a reliable source named Tom Henderson stated that the next game won’t be set in Egypt, but will instead feature a young Kratos in ancient Greece.
