Godzilla x Kong 3 Adds The Last of Us Star To Cast

The enigma surrounding the third installment of the most prominent kaiju crossover event remains unsolved. After the blockbuster hit Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire, the MonsterVerse has gained unprecedented fame and acclaim. In addition to the highly anticipated sequel, Legendary is also developing the next season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for Apple TV+, as well as an unnamed spin-off series. As fans eagerly anticipate the third clash between Godzilla and Kong, a new cast member has been introduced who will play a significant role in the upcoming second season of The Last of Us.

Godzilla x Kong 3: What We Know So Far

In the aftermath of the blockbuster success of the initial two Godzilla vs Kong movies by Legendary Entertainment, director Adam Wingard chose to part ways from the franchise. Taking over from Wingard is director Grant Sputore, who brings a rich background in science fiction to the table through his previous work on I Am Mother. Joining him is screenwriter Dave Callaham, renowned for his contributions to Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. At this moment, Dever is the sole cast member confirmed, but as we edge closer to the sequel’s release date on March 26th, 2027, more names are expected to be added to the roster.

As for what the next chapter’s plot could entail, it remains a mystery at present. In the final scene of “The New Empire”, both Godzilla and Kong managed to vanquish the Skar King and Shimo, who were dark counterparts of themselves. Although the wicked ape was slain, Shimo allied with Kong, making him the new sovereign of the Hollow Earth, ruling over an army of colossal apes. Godzilla, on the other hand, didn’t gain an army but received a significant power boost in “Godzilla vs Kong 2”, thanks to absorbing energy from various kaiju.
