`GOG Revives Breath of Fire 4 Dreamlist Frenzy`

According to a poll conducted by GOG Dreamlist, Breath of Fire 4 is one of the top requested games from players hoping for a PC re-release on the platform GOG.com. In total, over 9,235 votes were cast in this survey. Similar efforts have been made by GOG to bring back other classic Capcom titles like Dino Crisis 1 and 2, as well as the original Resident Evil trilogy, on their digital platform.

If you’re unfamiliar with it, Breath of Fire 4 is a role-playing game (RPG) set in the turn-based style, which was launched on the PlayStation One in the year 2000. It represents the fourth title in Capcom’s esteemed Breath of Fire JRPG series.

Fans and critics frequently praise it as the top game in the series due to its captivating storyline, lovable characters, expansive world brimming with fascinating locations, immersive visual design, and intricate battle system when compared to its predecessor, Breath of Fire 3.

It’s about time for a return to Breath of Fire

As a child growing up in the early 2000s, I had the pleasure of playing Breath of Fire 4 extensively. This game was among my all-time favorite Japanese Role-Playing Games (JRPGs), alongside titles such as Final Fantasy 9, Shadow Hearts, and Legend of Dragoon, to mention a few.

Reflecting upon the enduring popularity of Breath of Fire 4, more than two decades later, stirs feelings of nostalgia within me. It’d be fantastic if GOG could re-release this classic game on PC, complete with updated graphics.

If the revival of Breath of Fire 4 on GOG proves to be both critically acclaimed and financially prosperous, it might prompt Capcom to develop a modern Breath of Fire game. Given that other once-inactive Capcom franchises like Onimusha and Okami have managed to make a resurgence, there’s no reason Breath of Fire shouldn’t get its chance as well.
