Google Drive is finally available for all Qualcomm Snapdragon Arm64 Windows 11 PCs

Two new apps are now compatible with Qualcomm-powered Snapdragon X PCs – one of them is Google Drive for Desktop. Originally unveiled as a beta version in November 2024, Google has now made the Arm64-based app available to the public following its approval for distribution.

According to their blog post, Google has announced that their well-known cloud storage solution, comparable to Microsoft’s OneDrive, can now be downloaded by users who have a Google Workspace account, subscribe individually to Google Workspace, or possess a personal Google account.

While general availability starts today, users may face a ‘gradual rollout’ of up to 15 days

For individuals who were part of the Google Drive (Arm64) beta program earlier, they will automatically receive an upgrade to the full public release without needing to uninstall and reinstall the software.

Those with Qualcomm-based laptops can navigate to Google’s Drive page to download the app.

Google Drive was the missing app for many

Despite Qualcomm and its partners achieving nearly flawless compatibility of popular apps with Arm64 on Snapdragon X PCs, Google’s Drive application unfortunately fails to operate within the emulation environment. This app holds significant importance for those who heavily utilize Google Workspace in a corporate setting where access to cloud services is frequently compulsory.

Although being in beta for a year was an encouraging indication, it wasn’t easily accessible to many users since Google did not distribute it widely. Only those who actively sought out the beta version could utilize it, typically by searching for it on Google or reading relevant articles about it.
