As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the Steam Year in Review 2024 service has truly outdone itself this year. It’s always fascinating to take a trip down memory lane and see how my gaming habits have evolved over time.

At this season, people tend to reflect on the holidays and curiously look over annual summaries to discover their past activities such as games they played or music they enjoyed.

Valve is joining the excitement as they introduce the Steam Year in Review 2024 service on Wednesday. Similar to the Xbox Year in Review and PlayStation Year in Review, the Steam Year in Review service examines your account, categorizing your playtime and offering interesting stats about what you’ve played and for how long.

How to check your Steam Year in Review 2024

Checking your results is quite straightforward. You can do it by launching Steam on your computer and then accessing your account profile, or use the web version provided for convenience. After that, click on “Year in Review” option. Allow some time for the system to compile all the data. Please keep in mind that this feature functions only if you were playing games online because Steam doesn’t collect data from offline gaming sessions you may have had throughout the year.

It’s worth mentioning that Steam Year in Review collects data between January 1st and December 14th. Therefore, any gameplay recorded beyond this period, like that of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle developed by MachineGames, won’t be factored into your summary.

Your results will be a bit different depending on how much you played and how often you played. Steam tracks your longest daily streak, as well as calculating your gameplay based on what months you played the most. You should also see how many games you played, and how many of those were new games that you played for the first time.

In October, it was undeniably the busiest month for me due to wrapping up a replay of BioWare’s Dragon Age series and creating a recap of its story. Straight after that, I jumped right into Dragon Age: The Veilguard. On the other hand, June saw me playing the least amount of video games, as I was engrossed in coverage for Summer Game Fest 2024 and Xbox Games Showcase 2024. Interestingly, despite being in early access, Supergiant’s Hades 2 became my third most-played game during that period.

Apart from strategy games, where I mostly used my mouse and keyboard, I occasionally dabbled with controllers as well, especially in 6 specific games that accounted for approximately 16% of my total gaming time. This was mainly during my playthrough of the game Hades 2.

If you’d like to spread the word about your results with your friends, it couldn’t be simpler! Look for the option at the top and bottom of your annual review labeled “Share on social media or web”. Just select this option, and you can decide whether only your friends can view your recap or if it’s accessible to everyone publicly. Additionally, you have the choice to include your Steam Year in Review on your profile by choosing “Add to Profile Showcase.
