Grace meets Robert Glenister’s steely antiques dealer in season 4 teaser

As a seasoned viewer of police procedurals and a connoisseur of British drama, I must say that the upcoming fourth season of Grace seems to be shaping up quite intriguingly. With the addition of Robert Glenister’s Gavin Daly, an abrasive yet potentially pivotal character, this latest installment promises a complex web of emotions and suspense. The plot, revolving around a brutal robbery and the search for a valuable antique steeped in 1960s mystery, sounds like a tantalizing blend of crime and family drama.

ITV has revealed a sneak peek at the start of Grace season 4, airing this coming Sunday. The clip features John Simm’s character, a detective, meeting a challenging individual portrayed by Robert Glenister as Gavin Daly.

Grace encounters the antiques dealer at a hospital, after his sister is viciously beaten by as-yet-unknown assailants during a robbery, sustaining injuries that are “likely to leave her paraplegic”.

hearing such troubling news is challenging, and it seems Gavin struggles to maintain a friendly demeanor with others. However, will his presence ultimately aid or complicate the progress of the ongoing inquiry?

As a devoted movie buff, let me share with you the gist of an intriguing episode: “A shockingly violent burglary at a remote Brighton residence finds Grace and Branson tangled in a complex case when priceless antiques are swiped, and the homeowner clings to life. The investigation proves to be a real challenge.”

It seems that the focus of the event was a cherished keepsake belonging to the homeowner and her brother, which holds strong emotional significance. This item is connected to a decades-old family mystery surrounding their father from the 1960s.

In a fresh installment of “Grace,” Richie Campbell (known from “Top Boy”), Zoë Tapper (“Liar”), and Craig Parkinson (“Line of Duty”) will reappear. However, it’s been announced that Craig Parkinson will be leaving the series after the final episode of this season.

In his statement, he shared: “Playing Norman Potting has been an amazing adventure, with me running through the streets of Brighton and suspending villains from Brighton Pier. I truly hope you’ll appreciate this season as much as I have; it’s been one wild ride.”

“I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who’ve watched, encouraged, and even greeted us while we filmed in Brighton and Hove. The new season of Grace is here, marking the end of my journey on this project. I truly hope you will find enjoyment in it.”

Since Grace has been given a fifth season extension, it means that viewers can look forward to the return of John Simm, who plays the beloved detective character from Peter James’ books.

Grace season 4 premieres on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm on Sunday 1st September 2024.
