Grace season 4, episode 1 ends with happy news – and a disturbing threat

As a devoted fan of the intricate and gripping world of Grace, I must say that the latest episode left me absolutely spellbound. The tension and suspense were palpable from start to finish, with Roy’s investigation into the brutal robbery being both thrilling and heart-wrenching. However, it was the personal moments between Roy and Cleo that truly stole the show for me.

The ITV crime series “Grace” is back for its fourth installment, continuing the story of Roy and Cleo following the cliffhanger in season 3 where it was disclosed that she’s expecting.

The episode followed Roy as he investigated a brutal robbery, which ended up with a woman dying. He and the team managed to solve the case and arrest the guilty party, but Roy was somewhat distracted by his own personal situation.

Upon arriving home following the resolution of the case, Roy could be found conversing with Cleo. Suddenly, and unexpectedly, he expressed that he hadn’t procured a ring yet, yet proposed marriage to her on the spot.

She agreed, but then hesitated, wondering if that was truly his desire and not merely due to her pregnancy.

He confirmed he actually wanted to marry her, and the two shared a kiss, before being interrupted by a knock at the door. While Roy told her to leave it, Cleo went to answer it, before looking out in horror.

At the entranceway, somebody had placed a crib containing a toy baby, which was ablaze. They swiftly covered the flames with a blanket to extinguish them, and then Roy dashed outside toward the street to locate the person who had set up the crib. However, the area was empty.

Currently, we can’t definitively identify who might have moved the cot, but the eerie tone suggests it could be significant, considering Cleo’s expectant state. Could this event possibly relate to the reappearance of Sandy, Grace’s missing wife from long ago, a fact that Grace hasn’t shared with him? It appears we’ll need to be patient and see how events unfold.

Although Grace has been granted another season, it’s worth noting that this will mark the final appearances for one of the main actors, Craig Parkinson, who has chosen to leave the character of Norman Potting behind after this run.

“It was a significant task to bring this character from Peter James’ beloved book series to life, made easier by creative modifications from our talented writing team, as well as guidance from Peter himself. I’m delighted to see that the audience has connected with him.”

Currently available on Amazon for immediate purchase are the Peter James Roy Grace novels that have been chosen for adaptation in season 4: “Dead Man’s Time”, “Want You Dead”, “You Are Dead”, and “Love You Dead”.

Grace season 4 will continue on ITV1 and ITVX at 8pm on Sunday 8th September.
