ITV has shared the news that we can look forward to seeing Grace again on our television sets when her fifth season premieres on April 6th, airing at 8:00 PM.
Once more, the latest season of the well-known detective series will comprise four extended episodes, each derived from Peter James’s books. The initial episode is planned to revolve around the events in the 14th book, titled “Dead If You Don’t.
It appears that the storyline for Roy and his partner Cleo will commence with a sad event, as actors John Simm and Zoë Tapper hinted during a pre-season Q&A that the series will begin by revealing the heart-wrenching news that Cleo had a miscarriage.
In the series, when we encounter Cleo and Roy, it’s apparent that they’ve experienced the tragic loss of a child, an event that occurred off-screen according to Simm’s explanation. The situation becomes clear to viewers rather promptly.
Furthermore, Tapper stated, “It quickly becomes apparent that she has miscarried, which sets the stage for your initial impression of her and them – coping with a heartbreaking loss.
These scenes were deeply emotional and intriguing for several reasons. Firstly, Cleo’s professional life seems to be a significant part of her identity, and she’s currently on bereavement leave at the start of this series. Secondly, Roy has returned to work, which means that despite their shared grief, they are physically separated from each other during this difficult time.
In the upcoming episode, the central enigma revolves around two interconnected events. Firstly, the team is summoned to examine a corpse found in a barrel along a Sussex beach. Meanwhile, there’s a desperate situation unfolding at a Brighton football stadium as Roy races against time to prevent a potentially catastrophic event after an anonymous threat is received.
Lately, there’s been plenty of exciting updates for followers of the series. Notably, it has been confirmed that the series will return for its sixth season prior to the premiere of the upcoming one.
Author Peter James expressed gratitude about the revival, stating, “I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with a talented cast that any author would dream of, along with a highly interactive and innovative production crew.
I’m constantly flooded with emails from people, not just in the UK but worldwide, expressing their love for the series. This overwhelming praise is a clear indication of the exceptional quality of each episode.
I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing even more series based on my work, as these have been the most outstanding adaptations I’ve encountered so far. Collaborating with ITV and everyone else involved continues to be an absolute pleasure and delight.
