Even when the night changes, it’ll never change One Direction.
The music community paid tribute to the late Liam Payne, who tragically passed away in October at the age of 31 following an accident from a third-story hotel balcony in Argentina, by creating a heartfelt moment during the In Memoriam segment of the 67th Grammy Awards on February 2.
Following host Trevor Noah presenting the annual salute, Coldplay’s Chris Martin took to singing their hit track “All My Love” on stage, while clips of Liam interacting with a sea of One Direction enthusiasts were displayed on the screen.
Liam remarked in a narration as scenes of him beaming and performing unfolded, “To be honest, none of this was something we anticipated happening.” However, upon reflection, he added, “It turns out we’ve achieved some truly remarkable feats.
Although Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik, who were once bandmates of Liam’s, couldn’t make it to the 2025 Grammys, they united in November for a memorial service in the U.K. to celebrate his life. The One Direction members reunited for the first time since their 2016 break, as they all appeared at the funeral dressed in black suits.
On the day following Liam’s passing, the previous group united in spirit to express their sorrow and grief over the loss of their dear friend.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel utterly shattered upon learning about Liam’s passing. When everyone is ready, we will share more words, but for now, we need space to mourn and cope with the profound loss of our cherished brother, who was deeply loved by us all.
The vocalists expressed, “The moments we spent with him are priceless and will remain cherished eternally. At this moment, our sympathies go out to his family, his companions, and those who adored him as much as we did. He will be deeply missed.
They ended the message with, “We love you Liam.”
It was later determined that the singer of “Strip That Down” died due to injuries from a fall, and an investigation found traces of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescription antidepressant in his system at the time of his death. So far, five individuals have been indicted in relation to this case since October.
At the 2025 Grammy Awards, it wasn’t just the boy band member who was celebrated posthumously. Quincy B. Jones, a legendary figure who passed away in November and holds the third-highest number of Grammy awards with 28, was also honored in a special tribute. This tribute featured performances by Cynthia Erivo and Janelle Monáe.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve learned that the tragic passing of the “Strip That Down” artist was due to the injuries sustained from a fall he experienced. Subsequent investigations also uncovered traces of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescribed antidepressant in his system at the time of his demise. Over the past five months, five individuals have been indicted in relation to this unfortunate incident.
2025 was an unforgettable year for me as a music enthusiast, especially at the Grammy Awards. It wasn’t just the boy bander who received recognition; the late legend, Quincy B. Jones, was also honored in a heartfelt tribute. Jones, who passed away in November and holds the third-highest number of Grammy awards with 28, truly left an indelible mark on the music industry. The tribute was a beautiful spectacle, graced by none other than Cynthia Erivo and Janelle Monáe, two incredible artists who paid homage to his legacy in the most moving way possible.
