The beloved series “Grand Blue Dreaming” is set to return with fresh episodes this coming Summer, delighting fans who have been eagerly anticipating more adventures. Although it may not rival some of the larger anime franchises that have emerged in recent years, the original manga by Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka has garnered a loyal fanbase nonetheless. Since the first season of the TV adaptation was released in 2018, fans have been patiently waiting for its return, and now their wait is finally over!
As an observer, I’m excited to share that I’ll be witnessing the continuation of “Grand Blue Dreaming” Season 2 later this Summer in Japan, following its unveiling at AnimeJapan 2025. The event provided significant insights into what we can expect, such as a fresh opening theme titled “Seishun Towa,” sung by Shonan no Kaze and Atarashii Gakko!. Moreover, a captivating new trailer has been released to give us a taste of what’s to come. To fuel my anticipation for the upcoming episodes this Summer, I recommend checking out the enticing new trailer in the video above.
What’s New for Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2?
In Japan, the second season of “Grand Blue Dreaming” is set to premiere on July 8th, though its international distribution details remain undecided at this point in time. The upcoming season continues directly from where we left off, with Iori receiving a letter from his younger sister, who is poised to make her anime debut in the new episodes. Sumire Morohoshi will lend her voice to Shiori Kitahara, while Aya Yamane will portray Sakurako Busujima and Yoshino Aoyama will voice Naomi Otoya in the upcoming series. The original season’s staff will reprise their roles for the new episodes, but there may be some changes in the background operations.
I’ll be observing that Shinji Takamatsu is coming back on board for the second season to steer both the direction and writing for Zero-G. Interestingly, they’ve got studio Liber lending a hand with its production too. Hideoki Kusama will be responsible for character designs, Yoichi Ueda steps up as the chief animation director, and Saber Links will manage sound production. Meanwhile, Yukari Hashimoto is set to take over music composition – a change from the first season’s musical direction.
Who Returns From Grand Blue Dreaming Season 1?
The main cast of the first season from “Grand Blue Dreaming” is set to reprise their roles in the upcoming episodes. This group includes Yuma Uchida as Iori Kitahara, Ryohei Kimura as Kohei Imamura, Hiroki Yasumoto as Shinji Tokita, Katsuyuki Konishi as Ryujiro Kotobuki, Chika Anzai as Chisa Kotegawa, Maaya Uchida as Nanaka Kotegawa, Toa Yukinari as Azusa Hamaoka, Kana Asumi as Aina Yoshiwara, Takuya Eguchi as Hajime Nojima, Junya Enoki as Shinichiro Yamamoto, Natsuki Hanae as Yu Mitarai, Robert Waterman as Kenta Fujiwara, Jun Fukuyama as Captain Kudo, Shinji Kawada as Toshio Kotegawa, and Nana Mizuki as Kaya Mizuki.
As I peruse the streaming platforms in search of the first season of “Grand Blue Dreaming”, I’m left disappointed because it seems to be unavailable at the moment. This could be why the anticipation for the new episodes isn’t as intense as expected, and there’s a chance that this season might slip under the radar if it’s not licensed for Summer airing too. However, if you’re a fan seeking a humorous and lively series that fits perfectly with the summer mood, keep an eye out for “Grand Blue Dreaming”.
