In the recent thrilling episode of EastEnders, Grant Mitchell (played by Ross Kemp) experienced multiple unexpected events.
Following an unexpected encounter where Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) was conversing about his serious illness with Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter), Grant pressed for explanations, to which Nigel disclosed that he had early-stage dementia.
If Grant hadn’t been in Walford earlier, he would’ve learned about Nigel’s demise through a phone call instead. However, Nigel doubted Grant’s lifestyle in Portugal, which led to an argument between them.
Nigel expressed remorse for inviting Grant back to the Square, noting that he proved to be detrimental to his older brother Phil (Steve McFadden), who recently made a desperate attempt on his life last week.
Therefore, it was clear that Grant would also be of no help to Nigel in his time of need.
Stepping outside, a displeased Grant approached the door of ex-spouse Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), who chose not to remain at Teddy Mitchell’s (Roland Manookian) residence after he neglected to forward a call from Michelle Fowler (initially played by Sue Tully, later by Jenna Russell).
In their moment of shared sorrow, as Sharon mourned Michelle’s deceased brother Martin (James Bye) and Grant was grappling with the health issues of Nigel and Phil, they found solace in a deep conversation.
Sharon commended Grant for everything he’d done correctly, yet Grant subtly suggested that he was not as close to his daughter Courtney anymore.
He maintained that he had always been unhelpful to others, which explained why his son, Mark Junior, had been left ignorant about his true paternity by Michelle.
After Sharon had already informed Mark Junior that Grant was his biological father, she felt obligated to share this news with Grant herself. When Sharon momentarily left the room, Grant noticed the name “Mark” listed in her contact book.
In the meantime, the flame between Grant and Sharon had rekindled, and they shared a fervent kiss which quickly escalated further.
Next week, there might be revelations about Sharon’s deceit towards Teddy, as she seems remorseful about it.
