Great British Bake Off’s Noel cried when one 2024 baker was sent home

As a long-time fan of The Great British Bake Off, I eagerly await every new season with bated breath. This year, however, it seems that the show has taken a more emotional turn than ever before. From the heartfelt confessions of Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond in their recent interview with TopMob magazine, it’s clear that this season has been filled with high stakes, tears, and even a few mishaps – like when Alison showed off a bit too much and ended up on the floor!

In each episode of The Great British Bake Off, there are often touching moments, yet this year, it appears that one of the hosts found the emotional intensity overwhelming.

This week, Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond shared insights with TopMob magazine regarding the upcoming season of Bake Off. When questioned about the new season, Alison mentioned that “the quality is exceptionally high. It’s been quite unique. I have to admit, I feel sympathetic towards the judges this year.

Fielding added: “There are three incredibly innovative bakers. Any one of them could have won.”

Hammond disclosed that a handful of items caught fire, some structures collapsed, and there were unfortunate mishaps. One such incident involved me losing my balance while demonstrating an experiment and falling from a workbench to the ground below. Mostly, Noel was moved to tears as a result.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t deny that tears rolled down my cheeks when one of them left. They were unlike any characters I had encountered before.

This coming Tuesday, 24th September, at 8 PM, you can catch the new season of the popular baking contest on Channel 4. Both Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will return as judges for the competition.

Previously this year, speculations arose about Leith taking a break from the series, but she swiftly dismissed these claims. However, it was confirmed that she would no longer participate in the celebrity versions of the program.

“Throughout the entire summer, these productions are filmed one after another. Consequently, work starts in April and ends by late August without any breaks,” she explained on This Morning in March.

“So, I’m getting a bit old and there are places I want to go to, and other things I want to do.”
