As a seasoned movie buff with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment as yet another episode of The Great British Sewing Bee has been moved from its regular slot. I’ve grown accustomed to the routine of tuning in every Tuesday night at 9pm, only to find that this week, it’s been preempted by cricket coverage or a repeat of Death in Paradise.
Those looking forward to watching the finale of The Great British Sewing Bee must be patient for an additional day. The show is now scheduled to broadcast on Wednesday, 24th July, at 9 pm instead.
The series has shifted from its regular Tuesday night broadcast several times this season to make room for sports coverage during Euro 2024 and Wimbledon.
An explanation for the shift this occasion is more elusive, as Death in Paradise replays on BBC One instead of The Sewing Bee’s usual 9 pm slot.
The first match of The Hundred, featuring Oval Invincible against Birmingham Phoenix, aired on BBC Two for cricket coverage.
In the last round, contestants Luke, Pascha, and Ailsa will compete against each other for the award, striving to win over judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young with their best performances.
In the finale, they’ll face tasks such as creating opera gloves to demonstrate their dexterity with intricate materials, followed by transforming party decorations into full outfits during the Transformation challenge.
In the Made to Measure challenge, contestants must eventually design and dress their models by carefully placing fabric on them.
Once again, Kiell Smith-Bynoe of “Ghosts” fame will host the upcoming episode, replacing Sara Pascoe who had been in charge since the start of this season.
The Great British Sewing Bee final airs on Wednesday 24th July, on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9pm.
