Grounded 2 Producer on Launching for Other Platforms: “We’ll See Where it Goes in the Future”

Grounded 2, developed by Obsidian Entertainment, expands upon its 2022 original version, introducing larger environments, novel additions such as Buggies (or transportation vehicles), and numerous other enhancements.

To begin with, Grounded debuted last year on PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch, joining the initial four Xbox exclusives that expanded to other systems. At this point, there’s no talk of Grounded 2 following suit. However, executive producer Marcus Morgan hinted to IGN that they will consider where things lead in the future.

I’m thrilled beyond words for Grounded that we managed to launch on numerous platforms. Essentially, our motto is ‘Ride together, survive together.’ This game, to my mind, is all about enjoying it with your friends regardless of their chosen platform. Our aim has always been to connect with as many gamers as possible. We’re starting off here and will see where this journey takes us in the future.

On the exact day Grounded 2 enters early access, Obsidian will share a development plan or guidebook. Contrary to its first game’s approach, Morgan explains that they are not setting rigid rules for this sequel because there is a strong dedication to the early access model, which involves releasing content, observing user feedback, refining the game based on that feedback, and continually building upon it.

It seems clear to me that Grounded 2 is designed with greater potential for expansion compared to our initial expectations for Grounded 1. However, whether we decide to limit this expansion will depend on its performance in the future.

Regarding our plans for upcoming content and beyond, they’ll largely depend on the actions of our players. Provided our technical infrastructure continues to support us, we aim to follow this path. We’ll navigate these decisions alongside the community as we move forward.

Beginning July 29th, Grounded 2 will go on sale at $29.99 during its early access phase. However, those with Game Pass subscriptions can already play it through the Game Preview program.
